The Landing Activity Center will be Wausau’s premiere Healthy Aging/ Senior Center attached to the Wausau Branch of the Woodson YMCA. This new facility will be equipped with a billiards room, 2 fire places, a technology room, arts/ crafts room, glass atrium overlooking Leigh Yawkey park, outdoor patio seating and a community kitchen for comfortable gathering space. There will also be a Wellness Center dedicated to our member who are 55 or older and a program gym for pickleball and group exercise classes. The Landing Activity Center will be the main hub in the Wausau Community for healthy aging programming that focuses on the mind, body and spirit. We estimate our Grand Opening will take place in September of 2019 and couldn’t be more excited.

The Landing Operation & Development Director at the Woodson YMCA serves on the senior leadership team and ensures successful operation of The Landing Activity Center. The Landing Operations/ Development Director also positions the Y as a community convener and collaborator to address critical social issues around healthy aging.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Supervises The Landing Activity Center at the Woodson YMCA to assure sound operations.Addresses the root cause of systemic issues rather than symptoms.
  • Provides leadership and direction to the The Landing Activity Center by coaching staff and by providing overall direction to The Landing staff and volunteers.
  • Partners with the board and community to ensure the Y is identifying and meeting community needs of healthy aging effectively.
  • Creates organizational policies and structures that remove barriers and foster equity and inclusion for all.
  • Monitors monthly financial reports to assure that revenue targets are met and expenses 
  • are controlled.
  • Ensures the operational growth of the The Landing at the YMCA through program expansion, member recruitment and retention, pricing strategies, collaborations, annual campaign and planned giving. Guides the organizationto make tough choices about what to stop, start, and continue.
  • Identifies potential areas for The Landing cooperative programming to accomplish YMCA goals, and works with staff groups to develop and implement programs.
  • Creates effective, sustainable, organization-wide collaborations.
  • Represents the The Landing Activity Center of the Woodson YMCA in the community as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
 Bachelor's degree in human services, business, social services or equivalent.
Skills/Experience: 
  •  Four or more years of professional experience in the YMCA or another related field preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of healthy aging and the aging population.
  • Knowledge and experience in all aspects of operations, including staff supervision and development, membership practices, program development and implementation, volunteerism, facility and property management and financial practices.
  • Understanding of the nature and purpose of the YMCA and the respective roles of volunteers and staff.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community; track record of building authentic, constructive relationships with others.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $46,000.00 - $58,000.00
