World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the world’s leading conservation organization, seeks an Associate General Counsel at our Washington, DC office.  The incumbent provides a full range of in-house legal services to WWF-US management and other staff, with emphases in intellectual property; non-profit tax; corporate governance; charitable giving; litigation; technology; employment; and contracts and grants.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provides sound and constructive advice on legal and risk issues to colleagues in headquarters and field offices of WWF.
  • Authors clear and precise memoranda and legal briefs as needed.
  • Oversees defense and prosecution of litigation, including discovery, as needed.
  • Reviews and negotiates non-standard and high-dollar contracts, vendor agreements, grant agreements, MOUs, and other legal agreements. Advises on contract issues, including compliance, amendment, termination, and bankruptcy.
  • Provides advice on intellectual property matters, including trademark filings and infringements and copyright advice and compliance.
  • Keeps abreast of proposed legislation and regulations that may have an impact upon the organization, including state and federal regulation of charities and charitable solicitation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Law Degree and D.C. bar membership (or ability to become member of DC bar.) and five years of experience in relevant practice area(s) are required.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Exceptionally strong and effective writer.
  • Top-flight legal research and analysis skills.
  • Excellent judgment, with an ability to assess risk and provide alternatives.
  • Fluency in Spanish a significant plus.
  • Strong ability to work well with others and lead through influence.
  • Organized, driven, and able to effectively manage multiple matters efficiently.
