The Gateway Region YMCA has an immediate opening for a Cause-Driven leader to provide leadership to the Emerson Family YMCA.  The Emerson YMCA serves over 40 municipalities in North St. Louis County including Ferguson, Florissant, Dellwood, Hazelwood, Berkley, and Black Jack.  This is a diverse community with wide ranging socio-economic demographics.  The facility is a 46,000 square foot facility built in 1947 which will be part of a $2 million renovation later this year with funds raised through our comprehensive capital campaign.  Membership serves over 1,700 full units plus 2,500 insurance supplemented members totaling over 7,000 people.  This Y also serves 27 before and after school Y club sites serving over 800 youth in 4 different school districts.  This is a wonderful opportunity for a motivated, cause-driven leader to join an innovative, mission-based association with an exciting vision for the future.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
  • Under the direction of the Central District Vice President the selected candidate oversees the total operation of the Emerson YMCA branch, including membership, marketing, programs, before and after child care, facilities, volunteer and staff development, financial development, community relations and collaborations with community agencies.
  • Candidates must demonstrate successful experience in project management, staff supervision/training, program development, fiscal management, volunteer development, board development, and fundraising. 
  • The candidate must possess excellent written and oral communication skills along with a proven track record of staff development, community partnerships, program supervision and fundraising. Strong Experience with innovative child care programming and membership management required. 
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree in human services, social services, business or equivalent
Skills/Experience: 
  • Multi-Team Branch Leader Status preferred
  • 6 or more years of management experience in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency
  • $500,000 minimum budget experience             
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral communication and writing skills
  • Possess a high level of organizational knowledge, experience and proficiency
  • Articulate communication skills relating to branch leadership
  • Ability to successfully lead, recruit and develop staff of all levels
  • Possess and demonstrate commitment and passion for mission-centered objectives
  • Master conflict resolution skills and crisis management proficiencies
  • Demonstrate innovative thinking, program development and change capacity
