Are you a seasoned aquatic professional looking to work in a state of the art facility? We are looking for someone that is highly motivated and is passionate about creating a culture of safety. The West Chester Area YMCA aquatics complex hosts an active recreational and instructional program, in addition to a nationally ranked competitive swimming program.   The facility includes:

  • Ten lane competition pool
  • Dive Well
  • Recreation pool
  • Outdoor Waterpark that has a six lane competition pool and a recreation pool with many play features
Areas of Responsibility: 

Under the direction of the Senior Director of Healthy Living, the Advanced Aquatic Director ensures the aquatics experience is safe and fun for members and program participants. The Advanced Aquatic Director will work closely with the Director of Aquatic Safety to ensure we are following association practices and providing a safe environment for all.

  • Responsible for overall Aquatic management of Lifeguards, Competitive Swim Team, and safety of the pools.
  • Oversee safe delivery of swim lessons, Outdoor Pool operations, and SAW (Safety Around Water) community outreach program.
  • Creatively promote and increase swim lesson participation and implement new Aquatic family programming.
  • Assist with recruiting and hiring of aquatics staff and develop a team that is passionate about delivering a high level of service to members.
  • Serves as evening/weekend Director on Duty on a rotating basis 
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent, preferred. 
Skills/Experience: 
  • Three or more years of aquatic management experience, required. 
  • Three or more years of YMCA director level experience, preferred. Ellis Lifeguard Certification will be trained.  YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor Trainer preferred.
  • The ideal candidate has a proven track record of building strong teams, is organized and has the ability to manage day-to-day activities in the aquatics department.
  • Superior relationship building skills, computer proficiency and excellent communication skills are essential to succeed in this position. 
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $48,000.00 - $52,000.00
