Youth Sports Director

Would you like to share your passion for youth development with others? Would you like to use your knowledge and skills to provide successful youth sports programs? As the youth sports director, you will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and providing administrative support for the youth sports programs.

If hired for this position you will provide an impactful member experience designing, implementing, and evaluating programs, activities, and events that are open to all members. You will ensure high quality member-focused youth sports programs by providing leadership, instruction and motivation for program participants.

In this position you will be responsible for directing and supervising program activities and expanding youth sports programs within the branch and community. You will maintain great internal and external member relationships and deliver a successful member experience through programs and engagement as outlined in association standards.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Make great decisions:

  • Manage and implement the approved program budget.
  • Monitor and purchase necessary sporting equipment as budget permits.
  • Compile program statistics.  Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program.

Provide quality results:

  • Develop and distribute sports rules, guidelines and handbooks.
  • Create teams from paid and financially assisted registrations and develop and distribute team practice and game schedules.
  • May develop or assist in the marketing and distribution of program information, organize and schedule program registrations.
  • Meet performance measurement through annual giving, major gifts, and/or endowment by telling the Y story and raising charitable dollars to fulfill our mission.

Collaborate:

  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  • Organize and conduct sports clinics.
  • Work in collaboration with senior management to review and evaluate staff performance.

Build Relationships:

  • Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule and direct staff and volunteers as needed.
  • Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Support development and implementation of program specific volunteer training program. Assist staff in identifying productive and creative volunteer roles.
Educational Background: 
I have a Bachelor’s degree and/or two years related knowledge and experience.Make great decisions: Manage and implement the approved program budget. Monitor and purchase necessary sporting equipment as budget permits. Compile program statistics. Monitor
Skills/Experience: 
  • I have experience in supervision, fiscal management, program development, staff and volunteer development.
  • I have knowledge of various sports, games and activities, rules and regulations and the ability to teach youth and young adults.
  • I have experience in planning, organizing, and implementing age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
  • I have demonstrated skills in customer service, public relations, organizational skills, communications, supervision, computer knowledge, and file maintenance.
  • I have current Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED,  First Aid, and Oxygen certifications.
