Director, Sr. Operational Initiatives

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Senior Director, Operational Initiatives focuses on crafting and refining the processes and workflows in which the Society manages both projects and initiatives. Success is measured by the level of collaboration and adaption across the Society while managing projects through to completion.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manage operational, cross-functional, technical and non-technical project initiatives through a consistent framework, driving toward goals and timelines.  As part of the project management process, manage companion activities of Requests for Proposals, Legal Liaison, Vendor Management, Change Management, , and Risk Assurance.  Manage project budgets and reporting as needed.  (50%)
  • Oversee the Operations Council's organizational-wide roadmap of projects, including the project pipeline. This includes special projects initiated by the Board, Senior leadership, and joint venture initiatives. Facilitate project Steering Committees' activities with focus on alignment to timelines, key deliverables and enterprise-wide goals. (25%)
  • Lead, mentor, and manage project managers (15%)
  • Define and leverage project management best practices with regard to business processes, methods, implementation, metrics, and reporting to best align with the Society’s needs (5%)
  • Strategically work with the CAO to identify and solution gaps in project management coverage and areas of improvement across Operations (5%)
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • 10+ years of managing projects and programs in a rapidly changing environment. 5+ years of people management.
  • Strategic thinker with a strong sense of follow through
  • Excellent networking and cross-functional collaboration
  • Superior interpersonal skills at all levels including people management, leadership along with strong written and verbal skills
  • Knowledge and experience of the new NGS and awareness of the senior team’s operational goals
  • Ability to manage numerous projects and work streams from planning to delivery
