Director, School & Systems Leadership

As a Director on the School and Systems Leadership team you will be an integral part of the team responsible for Teach For America’s (TFA) national work to support aspiring and current school and systems leaders. The goal of this team and this role is to help our alumni move into leadership roles in K-12 systems, be great at those jobs and connect them to each other to learn, innovate and sustain themselves in these challenging roles.

Specifically, you will be responsible for leading a variety of work streams that address the needs of TFA alumni in this field. This includes designing and facilitating live and virtual professional development, working with partner organizations and curating resources for our large alumni base in school and systems leadership.

The ideal candidate for the job is passionate about supporting adults who work in schools and systems, and has been in a senior to mid-level leadership role in a K-12 school.  You are interested in adult learning and have experience leading professional development for adults. You are an exceptional project planner and executor and a constant learner who operates with flexibility and a sense of possibility through challenges.  You will report to the VP, Alumni Leadership Pathways

Areas of Responsibility: 

Facilitate, design content for and curate one of our flagship adult learning experiences for aspiring and current school and systems leaders.  (50%)

  • Facilitate live & virtual learning experiences for aspiring and current school and systems leaders (e.g. Rural School Leadership Academy Rural, Schools to Learn From)
  • Respond to participant learning needs by adjusting content and working with the program lead to adjust program design based on data

Support & implement other alumni facing live or virtual programming through design, execution and/or facilitation (30%)

  • Source and curate professional development resources for alumni working in K-12 educational leadership
  • Design, implement and facilitate new virtual or live leadership development for TFA alumni

 Support other cross organizational and cross functional priorities as needed (20% )

  • Corps member interviews
  • Events and projects that are cross team and cross organizational priorities
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree required
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least 4 years of work experience
  • School leadership (mid-level or senior) experience in a K-12 setting
  • Experience designing and leading adult leadership development
  • Teach For America staff experience preferred

 Work Demands

  • Must be able to travel up to 12 times per year in the U.S. including some weekends
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 50 pounds
