Areas of Responsibility: 

The role of Project Manager is to plan, execute, and finalize projects in accordance with established standards, agreed upon deadlines, and within budget constraints, while maintaining high levels of excellence and client satisfaction. Specific duties include:

  • The creation of all Project Charters
  • The creation, modification, and updating of all project plans through the duration of the various projects
  • Direction and management of all assigned projects from concept to completion
  • Effectively communicating project expectations to team members in a timely, clear, and consistent manner
  • The identification and proper use of resources and the coordination of the efforts of team members, consultants, other NRDC employees
  • The advising of project owners about issues or concerns in the progression of the projects
  • The proactively management of all changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans
  • The reprioritizing or restructuring of tasks and milestones as needed through the course of the project
  • Working with the Project Owners to define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle
  • The production of dashboard reports for the Senior Members of the HR Department and reporting back to them on regular basis the progress of all projects
  • Conduct “lessons learned” meetings both throughout and at the end of a project and from them create recommendations reports to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements
  • Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management
Skills/Experience: 
  • 4-6 years of Project Management experience
  • In-depth knowledge and proven application of Project Management methodologies and full project lifecycle including documentation standards, risk, issue, assumption and dependency management and change controls process
  • Familiarity with process modeling, workshop facilitation and business analysis
  • Competent use of Microsoft Office applications to include Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Word
  • Expert use of “Smartsheet” Project Management software
  • Flexibility to work on a variety of projects and teams within the Human Resources department
  • Ability to assume senior project manager role as necessary
  • Identify the impact of project deliverables on the NRDC community and ensure these fully support the success criteria of the project(s)

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of Not-for-profit and Environmental products and terminology
  • Working towards/attainment of a relevant recognized formal qualification in Project Management is desirable but not essential
  • Ability to create and foster a climate of adding value in delivering projects by striving for excellence and contributing to the overall development of Change Management
  • Self-thinker able to work through issues and escalate only when appropriate
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and demonstrate a high level of accuracy with an attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and follow through on work assignments with minimal supervision
  • Critical thinking skills and an ability to work independently and as part of a team are essential
  • Ability to exercise discretion, initiative, and good judgment

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Occasionally required to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Frequently communicates with HR team members who have inquiries about operations related issues, and the incumbent must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
