Youth Program Coordinator

Consistent with the Christian mission and vision of the YMCA of Middle TN, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the Senior Program Director, the Youth Program Coordinator 2 assists in leading and coordinating revenue generating youth and camp programs such as Center Day Camps, Birthday Parties, and Homeschool Physical Eductation classes. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Models the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
  • Supervises program sites to include set-up and takedown throughout the seasons
  • Attends all center leadership teams meetings to share program updates pertaining to that area
  • Communicates with parents and addresses parent concerns in a timely manner, and directs to appropriate director as needed
  • Works directly with the Camp Director in developing, programming, planning and overseeing daily activities, scheduling, lesson plans and general program operations
  • Ensures all schedules are completed satisfactorily in a timely manner; complies with the program schedule, arriving to work on time and working as a flexible team player
  • Provides direction to program staff and plays an important role in the hiring and training of staff
  • Knows, understands, trains and executes all program policies and emergency procedures
  • Assists with the various administrative tasks; coordinates schedules and completes all necessary reports; takes inventory of and helps purchase necessary supplies
  • Helps ensure the cleanliness of all YMCA facilities by participating in light cleaning and organizing of supplies
  • Compiles program statistics in order to monitor and evaluate effectiveness of and participation in the program; ensures appropriate records are maintained including program registration, staff and attendance rosters and equipment
  • Creates schedule and implements program activities as outlined in the curriculum
  • Responsible for tracking balances due and canceling no-shows for all participants
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions
Educational Background: 
High School diploma or equivalent required
Skills/Experience: 
  • Passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA
  • Superior supervisory skills and an enthusiastic personality with the ability to inspire and motivate staff, volunteers, members and participants to create a culture of service
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Must present a professional image and possess conflict resolution skills, and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative
  • Must be highly organized with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Minimum one year of experience leading a successful program or related leadership experience is required, experience in running or leading a camp program is preferred

Certifications Required:

  • Before start of 1st shift: New Hire Orientation training
  • Within two weeks of hire or before 1st shift with children (whichever comes first): Basic Life Support, First Aid and Emergency Oxygen 
Compensation/Benefits: 

Hourly: $12.00 - $15.00
