The Treasure Valley Family YMCA’s Child Development programs support children in their ongoing growth to ensure that they are ready for the next educational milestone, whether that be preschool, kindergarten, middle school, or high school.
This Child Development Area Director is responsible for administering the total operation of 4-5 Child Development programs at multiple sites. The Director will oversee the safe management of programs, facilities, volunteer and staff development, financial/budget management, and collaborations with community agencies in meeting the needs of its members and program participants at the assigned sites. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for Early Childhood Education and the ability to build genuine relationships with participants, parents, staff, and community partners.
- Work closely with Child Development staff to ensure department operations are consistent with approved Leading Practices.
- Supervise Child Development staff, including hiring, onboarding, role-modeling, coaching, scheduling, and on-going development.
- Expand existing programs and establish new programs and activities in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Respond to member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
- Develop and monitor program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Manage all aspects of programming to ensure budget, quality and safety expectations are met.
- Work with the Marketing and Communications team to market and distribute program information.
- Operate in a synergistic manner with other YMCA branches and departments to increase participation through cross-promotion and education.
- Be a contributing member of assigned Association Program Strategy Team.
- Engaging and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Coordinate use of Child Development facilities for program activities and events, including working with other Y and community leaders as needed.
- Develops and maintains relationships with current and potential funding sources in coordination with Branch and Association staff.
- Meet position-specific requirements in the Annual Campaign plan.
- Serve as Program Committee liaison.

- Work in harmony with the Y Mission and purposes, and the established policies, goals and objectives of the Treasure Valley Family YMCA
- 1–3 years of management experience and 5 years of working with children required.
- Boise City Childcare Worker’s license required upon hire.
- Must have firm understanding of budgeting, staffing and scheduling, staff development, and implementing age-appropriate curriculum.
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate educational programming for ages 6 weeks– 13 years and experience implementing an approved curriculum is required.
Salary: $41,537.00 - $51,251.00
