Under the direction of the Vice President, Camp Services, the Associate Executive Director is responsible for the coordination of camp operations, providing support to the Centers, and supervision to the off-site locations, while demonstrating YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all the following key result areas:

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • The incumbent must also possess strong leadership and management skills and experience in fiscal management, fundraising, customer service, marketing, camp program and compliance management, quality and risk management, and staff supervision.
  • Assist Vice President with developing short and long term plans that support Association goals and ensure the growth, quality, and service delivery of the Camp product.
  • Support and serve as a leader on the Camp Development Team, specifically the Camper Experience; Curriculum and Quality
  • Support Program Directors to ensure program quality and a consistent service delivery at all Centers and off site camp locations including:
    • A  Parent experience is consistent, and that participant enrollment, retention and program services are effective, efficient and of the highest quality.
    • A Camper Program Experience is engaging, educational, and fun and exceeds program delivery satisfaction expectations.
    • Support of the recruiting, hiring, and coordination of training of an associate camp team, and develop a team culture where employees are able to focus and thrive to achieve customer service and program delivery satisfaction scores.
    • Supports risk management and compliance expectations to meet best practices, Y standards, State of Maryland, and ACA regulations.
  • Directly supervise off site Camp Directors within a region
  • Directly supervise the Program Director of Camp Services and their region
  • Prepare reports and provide analytical data as needed
  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, and association required events
  • Assist with the development of the camp budget
  • Lead by example; interact with a high level of professionalism and accountability
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Educational Background: 
The incumbent must possess a bachelor’s degree in youth related education, recreation, business management or a related field.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 5-10 years of experience related to the delivery of camp programs, youth development, curriculum development, project management, fiscal management, and supervision of staff
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Excellent Problem Solving skills
  • Outstanding leadership and organizational skills
