This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the direction of the Aquatics Director the Aquatics Coordinator assists with the day-to-day operations of the Aquatics Department programs and program staff, to include supervision of swim instructors within the scope of the aquatic programming areas. The Aquatics Coordinator will have the responsibility of staff training and supervision of swim lesson programs. Responsibilities include public relations, as well as staff and volunteer training and development in order to provide a comprehensive aquatics program for all ages.
- Interpret, communicate, and promote The Family Y mission, goals, and objectives to employees, volunteer, members, and community at large.
- Assists with the hiring, training, scheduling and supervision of aquatic staff as it pertains to swim lessons and SAW.
- Assists in marketing and distribution of program information.
- Supervises and coordinates the SPLASH/SAW program.
- Assists in implementing revenue generating aquatics programs for program participants/members.
- Recruits, trains, develop and recognize program staff and volunteers.
- Assists Pool Manager in conducting life guarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR training.
- Creates and schedules swim classes.
- Communicates effectively, regularly, and efficiently with Aquatics Director
- Takes initiative to work independently on tasks.
- Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
- Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, the Aquatics coordinator monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Maintains accurate records, statistics and reports for control and evaluation of all programs.
- Assists with Program Committee meetings.
- Actively participates and supports annual campaign.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- One to two years related experience preferred.
- Current Lifeguard Certification required.
- Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention, CPR, First Aid, AED, Bloodborne Pathogens.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Salary: $32,300.00 - $36,000.00
