The Aquatic Director under the leadership of the Executive Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations in the Aquatic Department including lifeguards, swim team, Preschool, Youth and Adult programs; which includes hiring, development/training, instructing, and supervision of staff for these areas.   This position provides staff leadership to the We Build People Campaign annual support campaign, assists in volunteer identification, and supervision of building activities.  The Aquatic Director's fiscal responsibilities include: budget development, monitoring, reporting and implementation of cost controls in order to meet annual budget goals for the above listed areas.   This position requires embracing the YMCA of the USA standards for Safety, Healthy Living, Youth Development and Social Responsibility. 

Areas of Responsibility: 

We need a highly motivated team player to build positive relationships with our 8000+ branch members of all ages. Ability to effectively be a part of the management team, lead and supervise a staff team, manage a diverse budget, ensure YMCAs aquatic safety guidelines are followed, guide decisions related to Pre-School, Youth and Adult Aquatics; and demonstrate proven success in programming are necessary. 

Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum age of 21
  • Current YMCA Lifeguard or American Red Cross certification.
  • Certifications: basic life support or professional rescuer CPR/AED, first aid, and emergency oxygen administration. 
  • New Employee Orientation- YUSA, Mandated Reporter, and child abuse prevention training within 60 days of hire date.
  • Clearance- ACT 33, ACT 34, FBI
  • Ability to maintain and demonstrate certification-level physical and mental readiness in accordance with YMCA standards.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills, and has the ability to work well with members, staff, and volunteers.
  • Possess mature judgment and sound decision-making.
  • Possesses organizational skills, prioritizing abilities, human relation skills, and must have good communication skills-verbal, written, and phone.
  • Literate and proficient in PC, MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Publisher).
  • At least 2 years of active lifeguard at 980 hours/ year minimum.
  • At least 2 years supervisory experience or educational training.
  • Must hold YMCA lifeguard instructor certification, swim instructor, and basic life support trainer within 6 months of hire, or the first available.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $32,200.00 - $40,200.00
