Located in Rahway, NJ, the Rahway Branch is a full-service facility with an exciting future on the horizon. Currently serving over 3,200 members, the Rahway Branch hosts services within the areas of Youth and Teens, Healthy and Well-being, Aquatics, the Arts, Childcare and Summer Day Camp.
The Healthy Living and Youth Program Director will provide direction and leadership for the Health and Wellness and Youth Program departments. Responsibilities will include: program development, member support and engagement, program growth and retention, fiscal management, volunteer and staff development, program marketing and communications. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
The candidate must possess the ability to lead and work closely with all other Departments to provide excellent member service and engagement. The Healthy Living and Youth Program Director must have a miminum of three years' experience supervising others, excellent oral and written communication skills consistent with Y branding, excellent follow-through, must possess out of the box thinking, initiative, enthusiasm, good judgment and strong customer service skills.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and directs program staff team and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Design and implement the schedule of Group Exercise programming to best serve our membership demographic, making format or instructor changes when necessary. Actively recruit new, fresh group exercise instructors to continually infuse innovation into the schedule.
- Create, develop and maintain a Personal Training system that focuses on PT sales, revenue growth and improving member retention
- Direct the scheduling, maintenance, and repair of Department facilities and equipment.
- Develop new sports programs for youth and adults that are aligned with the YMCA's strategic plan and changing community needs.
- Participates in the planning of the annual budget; manages and implements the approved budget and takes appropriate action to correct variances
- Leads assigned aspects of Annual Support Campaign fundraising.
- Scheduled hours will include Saturday and two evenings per week. Schedule may vary and requires flexibility.
- Current CPR, First Aid, AED certifications
- ACSM, NASM, NSCA, AFAA or ACE certifications are a plus
- Supervisory experience in Health and Wellness or Youth Development programs
- Experience managing facilities, equipment, budget, and staff is preferred
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in program development
Salary: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00
