350.org is looking for a Latin America Campaigner, to plan, develop and monitor activities of mobilization, public awareness and advocacy related to climate change, transition to clean and renewable energy, climate defenders in the framework of sustainable, democratic and fair societies .
The Latin America Campaigner will be responsible for providing support to 350.org campaigns (such as on clean energy, zero fossil fuels, anti-fracking, climate defenders, climate change policies) implemented directly and or by partners, and will be engaged in establishing and keeping contacts with local partners, dialoguing with representatives of local authorities, NGOs, scientific community, indigenous peoples, among . Field visits, participation and eventually speeches at public and private events across Latin American will also be part of the work.
- Plan, develop, assess and report events and actions of 350.org campaigns and projects in Latin America;
- Engage and provide support to local partners in their activities connected to 350.org campaigns and projects;
- Identify new opportunities and potential partners for 350.org campaigns in Latin America;
- Strengthen partnerships and collaboration with Latin America movements working on climate change, environmental sustainability and human and indigenous peoples rights for clean, fair, democratic and sustainable societies;
- Maintain a working knowledge of climate issues and of the social, political, legislative,regulatory and economic framework relevant to the movement from a climate justice and regional perspectives.
- Represent 350.org at events and with grassroots activist groups, decision-makers, donors, and other allies, including the environmental community at large;
- Keep communications team up to date on campaign movements and needs;
- Write and submit narrative and financial reports of the work and activities performed .
- At least five (5) years of experience in implementing policy-oriented, action-oriented, advocacy and or public mobilization projects on environmental and climate related issues, including on energy, forest protection, environmental law, transportation, economy and investments for sustainable development.
- Proficient in disciplines connected to climate change related policies, such as energy, land use, consumption and production patterns, sustainable development.
- Experience in planning and providing reports of projects.
- Availability to travel in the region
- Fluent in Spanish and or Portuguese
Desired (but not required) skills and experiences
- Previous experience in not-for-profit organizations in Latin America
- Communication skills in English and in Portuguese
- Proficiency in Google Drive, Whatsapp, Facebook, Instagram, Slack and Zoom
