The YMCA of Greenville is seeking a cause-driven leader who desires to make a major impact in the community to join our team as a Sports Program Director of the GHS Family YMCA. The GHS Family YMCA is located in Simpsonville and offers a state-of-the-art wellness facility and programming including youth sports leagues and sports camps. 

The Sports Program Director is responsible for providing leadership and supervision to the operations of the Youth and Adult Sports Departments. 

Greenville, S.C. is 45 minutes from the Blue Ridge Mountains and three hours from the Carolina beaches and Charleston. The YMCA of Greenville encompasses eight strategically located branches, with our Metro Office situated near Greenville’s vibrant downtown, which has been ranked among “America’s Ten Best” by Forbes Magazine.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provide leadership and supervision of the Youth and Adult Sports programs.
  • Ensure excellence in program service and delivery, through proper training, evaluation, and promotion of programs.
  • Direct supervision of part-time staff members, contract employees, and volunteers.
  • Ongoing development and monitoring of related budgets. (Youth and Adult Sports)
  • Develop and implement new and innovative programming designed to further the YMCA mission and the impact on our community.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate records as it relates to all program areas.
  • Give guidance and direction to sports participants and volunteers.
  • Oversee equipment, inventory, and program areas.
  • Develop relationships for the advancement and promotion of the YMCA Sports Programs.
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed
  • Provide leadership on branch and association committees, as well as being a representative for the YMCA in the community.
  • Lead and coordinate assigned branch committees.
  • Actively participate in the annual support campaign.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree in education, recreation, health, business management or other related field. (years of experience may be subsituted for education)
Skills/Experience: 
  • Three-years of experience or similar knowledge of youth, sports, or recreation programming.
  • Supervisory and management experience.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Must have a full understanding of YMCA philosophy and live, work, and perform work duties in a manner consistent with such.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Prior experience in budget development and management.
  • YMCA experience
