The YMCA of Greater Boston is the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’s largest child care provider serving over 3,000 children per day in enrichment, healthy living and youth development activities. Additionally, it serves over 100,000 adult members in over 30 eastern Massachusetts communities.
Under the direction and in consultation with the Chief Operations Officer, the Branch Executive is responsible for all branch decision making and operations including driving the financial development strategy, community engagement, business operations, facility management, human resources, membership, and program/membership services of the Branch in accordance with the policies, by-laws and constitution of the YMCA of Greater Boston. This position reports to and is accountable to the Chief Operations Officer. This position will also be responsible for the supervision of another branch or lead an association responsibility/project. In addition, the Senior Executive Director will be responsible for significant association wide projects, and/or additional branch oversight.
- Board & Financial Development- Drive all fund raising and financial development initiatives in the community.
- Directs the Annual Campaign to fund the mission related work of the branch.
- Community engagement- Enhance the Y’s participation in the community and recruit committed volunteers. Recruits, maintains and engages a productive Board of Advisors.
- Staff Development- Direct responsibility and supervision for a branch staff team. Direct reports include; Director of Operations, Director of Annual Giving and Business Operations.
- Trend identification and implications for the branch and related operating units:
- Membership
- Youth Development Programs
- External environment changes
- Service area demographics
- Creates an annual budget and executes to the plan:
- Provides supervision for another branch or lead an association wide project; or initiative
- Works with branch staff on a timely basis to correct financial deficiencies.
- Participates in the monthly Executive Workshop and disseminates information discussed to branch staff.
- Project support for the Senior Vice President of Operations.
- Provides solutions for Branch specific and/or Association-wide challenges.
- Financial Budget
- Program enrollment (Aquatics, Sports, Youth Enrichment, Child Care, Out of School Time, Health & Wellness and Active Older Adults)
- Membership Sales & Retention
- Annual Campaign
Outcomes and position expectations:
- Annual Campaign targets are accomplished.
- A high functioning Board of Advisors.
- Operating models are in place and consistently implemented for:
- Membership Desk
- Membership Sales & Retention
- Cross selling (program to membership and vice versa)
- Timely action planning is in place (with effective end-results) for operating units and/or program areas that have performance concerns.
- Complete knowledge of operating details of programs and branch operations.
- Operating unit and branch staff are reaching their true potential.
- Identification of “Rising Stars”.
- Branch staff are achieving (at minimum) metric targets and producing meaningful qualitative results.
- Certified Organizational Leader with a minimum of eight years professional YMCA experience
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES/KNOW HOW:
- Superior Communication skills- both written and verbal.
- Must have a thorough understanding of the nature of the YMCA movement, volunteers and staff in the accomplishments of the YMCA goals, objectives and mission in the community.
- Possess a concern for detail and accuracy and have the ability to delegate responsibility.
- Must be highly motivated and possess a positive attitude towards the YMCA, character development and our mission.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Evening and/or early morning, and/or weekend hours required periodically.
- Occasional travel required.
Salary: $110,000.00 - $140,000.00
