The Center Assistant will support the Office Manager and other staff members in the operations of the gift shop and visitors center. The busiest time of the year is during Crane season (mid February to mid April) at the Iain Nicolson Audubon Center in Gibbon, NE. They will work closely with the Office Manager to streamline processes and procedures. This position reports to the Center Director.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Operate the cash register for retail sales, as well as oversee the merchandise ordering, stocking and general operation, within the gift shop
- Work with the Office Manager to perform daily reconciliation of cash register and credit card machine
- Perform data entry tasks, as well as other general housekeeping duties when needed
- Responsible for answering phones, taking reservations and leading tours
- Performing other clerical duties as assigned
Educational Background:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
Skills/Experience:
- Ability to perform simple calculations such as making change and balancing cash register
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to work variable hours, as well move boxes up to 25 lbs
- Ability to work well with a team as well as independently
