Food Loss and Waste Research & Program Coordination Intern

World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the world’s leading conservation organization, seeks a recent undergraduate or student pursuing a graduate degree to perform delegated project management and research tasks as relevant to active food loss & waste program workstreams. The intern may have the opportunity to influence research directions, depending on skills and interests. The intern will complete necessary organization and coordination functions to support workstream progress. Organization and coordination functions may include: agreements processing, tracking relevant current events, meeting minutes and record keeping, document editing, conducting literature reviews, and other tasks as needed. They will support active US food loss & waste workstreams- to primarily include work with farms and hotels- as well as global coordination of network projects and staff.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Reading and extracting data from academic literature
  • Providing support for food loss & waste project teams
  • Building and managing citation libraries
  • Reviewing and synthesizing relevant current events
  • Recording and compiling meetings minutes and program progress
  • Contributing writing, editing and factchecking for reports, communications, and project deliverables
  • Providing logistical and research support as needed
Educational Background: 
Recent undergraduate or active graduate student
Skills/Experience: 
  • Demonstrated experience with literature research and review
  • Excellent research, writing, editing skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work productively on both independent research assignments and as part of a team
  • Ability to manage time and productivity in a dynamic environment
  • Part-Time (20 hours per week for 5 months)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite
  • Familiarity with accessing and reading scientific papers
  • Knowledge of US food systems and supply chain dynamics preferred
