We are recruiting for a Senior Program Manager to join our programs team in our Washington, DC headquarters. The right candidate will have a track record of creating and delivering innovative programs and partnerships at the national level. We are looking for someone skilled in operationalizing strategic plans, with experience managing staff and volunteers, who desires to join a national organization with ambitious five-year growth and impact plans.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop innovative, cutting edge programs that educate and raise awareness of mental health issues among a diverse audience of students, parents, educators and others
- Collaborate with the communications & marketing, and fundraising teams to maximize the revenue-generating potential of programs and our 450-strong chapter network
- Conceptualize and deliver trainings through a variety of formats and delivery systems, including but not limited to virtual toolkits and guides, video, curriculum development and implementation, and more
- Collaborate with the communications & marketing and fundraising teams to develop and implement national awareness campaigns on select mental health topics, including Suicide Prevention Month and Transform Your Campus™
- Assist the Director of Programs in complying with grant requirements and developing bold grant applications for future funding
- Provide strategic insight into and lead the development of future program offerings, including those targeting key groups such as veterans, student-athletes and Greeks (fraternities and sororities)
- Ensure that mental health training, live and online, developed and offered by Active Minds to staff, volunteers and partners is informed by best practices and current knowledge, and is easy to digest, informative and effective
- Collaborate with key partners and across all Active Minds departments to elevate organizational visibility, impact and revenue
- Under the direction of the Director of Programs, selectively solicit new national partners to broaden Active Minds audience, supporters and program offerings
- Collaborate with the Senior Chapter Coordinator to liaise with the Student Advisory Committee to ensure that the student perspective informs relevant programs and initiatives
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to ensure that the National Advisory Council and Board of Directors are appropriately utilized for their expertise, experience and insight
- Assist the Director of Programs in managing team priorities, work load and professional development, including mentorship where appropriate
- At least 3-5 years of strong experience innovating and implementing programs, preferably at the national level
- Knowledge of mental health issues, programming and best practices desirable
- Visionary; is able to recognize the potential to scale a program, initiative or idea at the national level and market to diverse constituencies, including students, parents and educators
- Experience working collaboratively across departments, especially with communications and/or fundraising staff
- Experience managing, growing and motivating staff
- Ability to prioritize individual and team responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with veterans, athletes or Greek life communities desirable
- Experience creating and growing revenue-generating programs desirable
- Strong written and oral communications skills
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Dependable and reliable by nature
- Assumes responsibility for tasks and assignments and can be counted on to complete tasks at a high level and on time
- Strong work ethic and professionalism
