The Director of Development and Communications under the leadership of the Senior Executive Director will provide high level leadership and support in the area of financial development to the Embarcadero YMCA. This will include annual campaigns, major gifts, board stewardship, special events, and grant writing. Fund development also includes organization and tracking of donor records, donor cultivation and recognition. This position will provide leadership and support to the Embarcadero YMCA for all branch communications, marketing, web and social media presence. Requirements include interaction with donors, outside professionals, volunteers and staff. The Director of Development and Communications also provide supervision and leadership to the Communications/Graphics Specialist at Embarcadero. All functions will be performed to create a highly visible and positive image of the Embarcadero YMCA. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop and lead a long-term strategic development plan to secure funding for programs, operations and expansion for the Embarcadero YMCA.
  • Develop and manage an annual development budget necessary to accomplish fundraising goals.
  • Oversee research, development and cultivation of new donors.
  • Provide regular, detailed fundraising progress reports and evaluate effectiveness of fundraising activities
  • Oversee planning and execution of designated special events at both branches.
  • Oversee grant and budget reporting; ensure compliance with terms of each grant.
  • Work with leadership teams on developing and designing new projects and proposals, in particular for federal/ foundation grant opportunities.
  • Provide support to District VP in all philanthropic work for both branches.
  • Manage Daxko Fundraising and oversee staff responsible for data entry/gift processing.
  • Work closely with external partners to develop volunteer projects, donor stewardship events etc.
  • Assist Senior Executive Director with the enhancement of Heritage Club Program.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on organizational and program direction as it relates to fundraising
  • Collaborate with all Departments to create and follow one Marketing and Communications budget for the entire branch.
  • Assist planning and maintaining online marketing strategies (relevant websites, e-newsletters, blogs, etc.) to ensure timely, accurate, and relevant information is posted. Including all relevant social media sites.
  • Assist in coordinating visual displays within the branch & at offsite locations (Bulletin Boards, Fliers, Lobby TV and displays, street signs, branding etc.)
  • Monitor and approve communication pieces for brand compliance.
  • Oversee design and implementation of a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that supports programmatic goals and builds brand awareness.
  • Oversee development and execution of social media fundraising strategy across Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and other channels.
  • Oversee development and delivery of all donor communications materials, including annual report, regular e-newsletters, and other forms of collateral.
  • Implement branch-wide messaging and branding
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.  Master's degree preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum 18 years old
  • Minimum two years experience in financial development.
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills 
  • Proficient in computer and software technology.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00
