This position is responsible for driving revenue and managing assigned accounts in an assigned territory for AARP titles, AARP The Magazine and AARP Bulletin. Additionally, this position will be responsible for a number of digital accounts and will be responsible for driving revenue for aarp.org.
This position generates revenue for Media Sales by selling ads and some strategic programs in The Magazine and the Bulletin and digital campaigns on aarp.org. The development and maintenance of in-depth agency and client relationships are central to the success of this position. Ongoing communication with sustaining and prospective clients and their agencies regarding the benefits and strengths of AARP and its print titles will comprise the majority the majority of this position’s time.
- The account manager’s primary responsibility is to attain his/her yearly revenue goals for print and digital. Consistent client and agency contact, staying current with industry trends and news and relevant trends and news.
- Develop and implement plans and strategies to attain revenue goals.
- Demonstrate urgency and enthusiasm representing AARP Media’s channel’s and programs in a professional and engaging manner.
- Complete RFPs for assigned accounts by working with sales management, ad ops, and marketing and research teams to develop rates and specific information requested.
- Provide sales management with up-to-date forecasts, background, sales activity, action reports, Further, this position is responsible for raising awareness of AARP’s mission and goals within the advertising community.
- 10+ years’ media/sales experience or equivalent combination of experience and training related to the duties of the position. This experience should be both print and digitally in nature.
- Strong interpersonal skills required.
- Familiarity with key accounts and key agency players required.
- Experience with competitive media, both print and digital required.
- Category experience in any of the following a plus: pharma, travel, auto, technology, finance, food, over the counter remedies, direct response.
