Operations Executive Director - Green Hills YMCA

Consistent with the Christian mission and vision of the YMCA of Middle TN, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the Group Vice President, the Operations Executive is responsible for day-to-day operations of the YMCA and must balance fiscal responsibility, staff development/motivation, quality program delivery and facility upkeep, cleanliness, and safety to experience success.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Model the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility; implement character development and the YMCA core values in all programs and all aspects of Center operations
  • Model and put into practice behavior that supports inclusion and diversity
  • Develop, manage, and monitor the Center operating budget and meet or exceed budget targets
  • Represent the YMCA and maintain appropriate relationships with area organizations, community leaders and businesses
  • Ensure the implementation of Hope for Life key components
  • Coordinate the development and management of Center programs to meet the needs of the community and achieve Association operating objectives
  • Ensure outstanding customer/member service and meet all Association standards
  • Serve as a leader in the Annual Giving campaign and other fundraising initiatives; direct staff and volunteers on implementation of membership campaigns
  • Direct staff and volunteers in the development of program and membership enrollment strategies
  • Coordinate staff and volunteer development, including recruitment, team building, training, evaluation, recognition, termination, etc.
  • Participate in special events, activities and meetings, including staff meetings, trainings, and assigned committees as requested
  • Ensure compliance with Association policies and procedures
  • Coordinate management and maintenance of the facility and equipment
Educational Background: 
Four year college degree in a related field
Skills/Experience: 
  • Passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA
  • Superior supervisory skills and an enthusiastic personality with the ability to inspire and motivate staff, volunteers and members to create a culture of service within our Centers
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Must present a professional image and possess conflict resolution skills, and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative
  • Must be highly organized with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software programs, as well as the ability to use most office equipment is required
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Three to five years experience in a director-level YMCA position
  • Ability to inspire and motivate staff members
  • Ability to analyze complex information, and to define and solve problems
  • Strong ability to manage and develop an operating budget
  • Excellent written, oral and presentation skills
  • Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations, and not for profit sector employment policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of compensation administration principles and procedures; mathematical skills
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $63,097.95 - $78,872.44
