The Director, Thriving Y’s will deliver high quality specialized consulting services to YMCAs throughout the country focused on strategies, interventions and recovery plans designed to move from struggling to striving, striving to thriving and re-establishing membership in good standing status with YMCA of the USA; assessing, negotiating and implementing strategic alliances in local YMCAs; assessing and facilitating New Y development throughout the country; and /mediating local YMCA service area projects throughout the country; and serve as a resource to RDs, local Ys and state alliances with disaster response planning.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Provide specialized consulting services that will systematically identify and focus on intervention in and recovery of struggling/striving/conditional/probationary/at-risk associations through the integrated work of the entire service delivery structure
- Manage conditional YMCA recovery projects and facilitate YUSA resources and staff as well as Service Partners and Alliance Partners that will implement recovery strategies with local Y.
- Facilitate projects with Service Partners, Alliance Partners, YUSA staff and local YMCAs in assigned disciplines in development and execution of recovery strategies for local YMCAs
- Provide education and specialized consulting services focusing on strategic alliance opportunities among local YMCAs and/or local YMCAs and community agencies
- Facilitate and mediate resolutions to service area disputes between member associations and YMCAs that are seeking to assume new service area through the dissolution and/or termination of another local YMCAs charter
- Provide education and specialized consulting services focusing on new YMCA corporate and branch development
- Provide education and specialized consulting services focusing on disaster recovery planning in local YMCAs and YMCA state alliances
- Provide education and specialized consulting services focusing the training and recruitment of interim CEO candidates for struggling/striving/at-risk/conditional/probationary YMCAs in a leadership transition
- Maintain a unique proprietary database of subject specific resources, best practices and information to support knowledge management via Y Profile and Link
- Maintain latest trending and up-to-date knowledge of developments in related services in all specialized areas of position and use information and new tools from advanced knowledge to serve as a resource for YMCAs considering such transactions and to YUSA Resource Directors, Senior Resource Directors and CMS staff and volunteers working with local YMCAs needing such services
Educational Background:
A bachelor’s degree is required.
Skills/Experience:
- Organizational Leader certification is required or significant progress with a schedule to complete.
- Requires 10 or more years progressive experience in operations management in complex non-profit, multi-site organizations and/or organizational consulting
- Experience in corrective turn-around of a local YMCA operations preferred
- Demonstrated ability to coach executives and board volunteers
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in managing high level impact projects
- Advanced skills in facilitation, negotiation, problem solving, conflict resolution and mediation with sensitive, confidential projects
- Advanced experience with collecting, analyzing, interpreting and delivering data in reports and presentations
- Advanced skill with interpersonal, verbal/written communication and presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to influence others to achieve objectives
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with individuals across a broad range of groups
- Commitment to character development values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $134,000.00 - $150,000.00
