The Candidate
iEARN-USA is seeking an Executive Director who will be responsible for day-to-day management of operations, financials, & staff development. S/he manages & works alongside the staff to create a productive & comfortable networking environment to engage with students in the United States & worldwide. The ED is responsible for pursuing & securing new revenue streams while crafting a new & innovative vision to drive the organization’s future development.
The ideal candidate should be a dynamic & creative leader with expertise in both U.S. & global education. The ED will work closely with a variety of diverse stakeholders in order to identify, establish and nurture effective partnerships to help expand the size & impact of the iEARN network. The ED should be deeply invested in & knowledgeable about K-12 education, & committed to providing opportunities for teachers & students everywhere to learn with the world, not just about it. S/he must be a strategic and creative leader & an advocate for both the US organization & its wider mission. S/he must be an articulate and forceful spokesperson, capable of publicizing the importance of global, project-based learning by following & enhancing the established iEARN model. This position presents an exciting opportunity for a seasoned leader to join a strong, creative, & highly motivated team at a key moment in the field of virtual exchange.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership, internal communications/HR, external communications, program and partnership development, financial management, fundraising and development, board governance
Critical Qualifications
- Non-profit management: Proven management & leadership skills with the ability to build strong teams and mentor staff
- Education management: 10 years senior management experience in an organization focused on education, preferably K-12
- Revenue, Fundraising & Development: Demonstrated business acumen, experience as an effective entrepreneur
- Program Development: Experience with developing and launching innovative, new business and program activities
- Community Engagement: History of building/ maintaining partnerships & collaborations preferably at an international scale
Technological Capacity: Knowledge of educational learning platforms and tools.
