The Director of Grant Development and Administration is responsible for initiation and writing of grant proposals, research of grant potential, direct outcome measurement and administration of compliance fulfillment for the YMCA of the Suncoast to advance its cause-driven work.
Areas of Responsibility:
Financial Development
- Seek out opportunities for grants and funding sources that support the YMCA of the Suncoast's cause-driven work.
- Build and maintain existing relationships with funding sources that are in place.
High Quality Programs, Services and Facilities
- Generate proposals and supporting documents in response to solicitations and grant opportunities found by research to benefit programs, services, or capital projects across the Association.
- Provide all aspects of internal coordination of grant writing and reporting (working with various levels of staff to gather information for required reports).
- Design surveys, evaluation metrics, tools and data collection methods in collaboration with key staff and program directors. Assist when needed in the administration of data collection for funded programs.
- Develop and maintain grant calendar to indicate due dates for applications, reporting and other criteria.
- As necessary, coordinate with outside consultants used for outsourcing of specific grant proposals.
- Adhere to schedules and deadlines.
- Maximize the use of appropriate software tools for grant documentation, prospecting, cultivation and relationship building.
Staff and Volunteer Management
- Initiate and lead the efforts to identify potential grant sources.
- Provide leadership and collaboration with other staff to pursue funding opportunities they may have identified. Act as liaison with other staff as needed.
- Manage signing of proposals when CEO and Board volunteer signatures are required.
- Communicate results of grant efforts to internal and external stakeholders such as policy volunteers.
Finance
- Report to and work with the CFO to generate budget and financial documents that support timely submission of grant and fundraising proposals. The CFO may delegate a portion of budget and financial document preparation to their designee.
Community Development
- Represent and promote the YMCA in the local community and develop positive working relationships with other organizations and businesses.
Operating Values
- Serve the objectives of the YMCA facility branches, School Age Program operations and Association Office of the YMCA.
- Accountability, confidentiality, professionalism, relationship based behavior, and ethical behavior are required at all times.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Skills/Experience:
- Five plus years' experience in persuasive writing and proven track record in project management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication is a must.
- Demonstrated proficiency in researching, interpreting and analyzing diverse data.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently to achieve stated goals.
- Must be able to manage and cultivate relationships and have a high level of emotional maturity.
- Excellent organization and problem solving skills. Must have the ability to maintain accurate record keeping systems, evaluate data, and recognize trends. Attention to detail is essential.
Physical and/or Mental Requirements
- Physical and mental abilities to work under pressure as well as organize and plan efficiently.
- Must be able to communicate clearly.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time while performing job functions or work on computer and other equipment.
- Must be able to concentrate for extended periods of time, paying attention to detail.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
- Must meet YMCA of the Suncoast driving criteria
