Areas of Responsibility: 

This role is about centering justice and equity through different strategies and initiatives within 350.org. In this role you will develop and support a broad range of strategies and activities that strengthen and grow 350.org’s internal commitment to and comfort with an intersectional climate organizing framework. You will also support diverse groups within the environmental movement and build political power with aligned movements of racial, economic, gender, and social justice with particular emphasis on building bridges with climate impacted frontline communities, organizations and networks.

You would report to 350.org’s Justice & Equity Manager, and work closely with campaigners and organisers alongside cross-movement partners in order to develop initiatives and strategies that center justice and equity within 350.org--US. You will be a team expert providing day-to-day advice on relationships with cross-movement partners, and giving support to campaign and organizing teams to better incorporate a justice and equity lense throughout their work.

We are looking for someone who can develop equity initiatives, brief campaign and organizing leads on best practices and strategies for centering equity, write resources that educate and support our staff in moving forward with equitable practices, train staff and support our organizing team in developing trainings on equitable tools. Above all, you should be a people person, able to build and maintain productive relationships with partner organisations.

This is a fast-paced environment and you’ll be expected to cover a lot of issues across a lot of different program areas. From writing resources to coordinating with frontline and cross-movement partners on the ground, we are looking for someone who is dynamic, creative, strategic, knowledgeable of best practices, and a team player.  

  • Support organizational processes around justice & equity including training, capacity-building and political education for staff and volunteers
  • Work with Justice and Equity Manager to develop frameworks for integrating racial justice into internal policies of 350.org.
  • Work and support Program staff to effectively and strategically engage with frontline communities, leaders and cross-movement groups in the U.S.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in organizing work with diverse coalitions, movements of color or organizations led by people of color.
  • Experience in developing and integrating racial justice initiatives organizationally.
  • Proven ability to establish and nurture partnerships with diverse groups and communities to build political power for racial, economic and social justice.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Experience with training and coaching staff.
  • Experience developing materials, strategies and activities that center equity.
  • Ability to translate strategies into day-to-day activities.
  • Willingness to travel, sometimes at short notice.
  • Creative communicator and problem solver

Desired (but not required) skills and experiences

  • Ability to resolve conflict and build consensus.
  • Experience in sourcing funds and other resources for frontline groups and communities.
  • Previous work on climate change

We are looking for someone who is comfortable working both independently and in teams, highly responsive, and able to lead initiatives as well as take direction from others. 

Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary range: $45,000-$60,000
