The Film Festival Unit of Human Rights Watch (“HRW”) is seeking highly-qualified applicants for an Outreach Consultancy in London. The Consultant will oversee the digital marketing and outreach related to the 2018 London film festival taking place from 8 March through 16 March 2018. The film festival brings to life human rights abuses through storytelling in a way that challenges each individual to empathize and demand justice for all people. The consultant will work closely with the Associate Director of Audience Engagement based in New York. The anticipated dates for the consultancy are January through March 2018.
- Preview film selections for HRW London film festival, edit related film descriptions and assist with creating taglines for promotional use in assorted film festival materials and communications;
- Prepare content including text and images for use on social media;
- Collaborate with HRW to execute the festival’s digital marketing strategy to raise awareness of the festival across social media, including helping to craft engaging social media content;
- Coordinate outreach to increase attendance at film screenings and events and strategize with HRW staff and cinema partners on how to best reach new and varied audiences;
- Conduct research to identify potential UK community groups that serve people of different ages and diverse backgrounds including university programmes, cultural centers, single-issue organisations and other organisations who could promote the film festival to their constituencies;
- Identify themes and interest areas within the content of films being shown and determine how to best promote films to relevant niche audiences throughout London;
- Create and distribute outreach materials including flyers, printed programs and email blasts;
- Research the most relevant London-based events listing websites and newsletters to promote the festival and raise visibility of both individual films and the festival;
- Coordinate festival staff and volunteers to assist in digital marketing and outreach including photography at the film festival and timely posts to social media platforms during the festival; and
- Provide a final written outreach report detailing the scope of the outreach work as well as an evaluation for areas for improvement for the year ahead.
Experience: A minimum of two years of experience marketing films or cultural events is preferred.

Duration: This is a part-time, approximately 4 days per week, three-month consultancy with an anticipated start date in January 2018.
Other: Applicants for this position must be able to legally work as an independent consultant in the UK for the duration of the contract and must provide a Self-Assignment Registration (UTR) Number or Taxes Reference Number.
Fee: HRW seeks exceptional applicants and offers a compensation rate ranging from GBP 7,500 to GBP 8,000 for the consultancy, depending on the applicant’s experience.
