Responsible for the management of multiple program departments as well as providing leadership in areas of volunteer and staff development, financial development, and collaborations with community organizations.
The Associate Executive Director is also responsible for planning, supervision, and directing all day camp programs and staff. Key interface with parents and guardians in assuring positive experiences for attendees.
The Mattapoisett YMCA is also a wedding location in during the wedding season. This position is responsible for the management and set up of the wedding staff.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Develops, manages, and monitors assigned operating budgets to meet or exceed targets.
- Develops and directs member engagement strategies and programs, including retention and enrollment initiatives.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, and directs staff and volunteers including prospective camp staff.
- Evaluates staff and volunteer performance and initiates action to meet and exceed goal expectations.
- Provides leadership support in developing new sources of funds, and in meeting branch and Association fund raising goals.
- Implement, monitor, update, risk management plans specific to child abuse prevention, facility and equipment safety, aquatics, records security, and others as identified.
- Prepare and conduct pre-camp and on-going staff training and meetings
- Assign staff to activities and functional responsibilities.
- Supervise and evaluate camp staff; take necessary corrective action where required.
- Prepare mid-year and year-end evaluations and recommendations for next season.
- Manage, assign, and evaluate day camp program schedules including special event activities.
- Initiate and monitor bus transportation policies and procedures.
- Develop, manage, and evaluate opening and closing day procedures for campers and staff.
- Maintain and review evaluations of all programs, staff, and facilities of program; recommend and/or take action as required.
- Manage, monitor and report on issues of child care safety and security.
- Direct, manage and help coordinate weddings with the prospective couple.
Educational Background:
BS Degree in Human Services, Recreation, Business, or related field.
Skills/Experience:
- Management and camping experience, preferably in YMCA or other non-profit agency.
- Experience in budgeting, financial management and development.
- Ability to plan, organize, and implement a wide range of daily and specialized programs.
- Proven ability to interface with children and adults in a positive manner, resolve issues, and react appropriately to non-routine situations.
- Experience supervising and motivating large camp staffs.
- Ability to direct, motivate, and evaluate staff and volunteer performance to meet organization goals.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations
- Knowledge of, and experience in, developing new programs and activities for unique member experiences.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00
