The Campaign Associate, Shot@Life is responsible for coordinating grassroots advocacy and engagement and providing digital advocacy support for the Shot@Life campaign. Campaign Associate, Shot@Life will communicate regularly with grassroots advocates, fundraisers, and supporters, and is vital to the success of Shot@Life campaign as the “front-line” of grassroots engagement and digital support.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Support the Manager of National Grassroots Strategy in seasonal grassroots advocacy activations for Congressional target audiences, including existing campaign champions.
  • Support the Manager of National Grassroots Strategy in the development, implementation, and growth of the Shot@Life grassroots advocacy plan, including volunteer management and support, leader development and support, and outreach in targeted Congressional districts.
  • Plan and execute Shot@Life grassroots events and activities, including the three-day annual Champion Summit.
  • Develop and maintain online advocacy tools, including petitions, Congressional email and social media forms, and event application and registrations.
  • Develop email updates and newsletters for Shot@Life campaign supporters/Champions to encourage advocacy action and motivate partners and grassroots constituents to engage further.
  • Field phone calls and email questions regarding Shot@Life advocacy involvement.
  • Cultivate relationships with grassroots advocates to foster engagement; provide support, couching, and encouragement; problem solve; etc.
  • Manage the development, content, and functionality of the online Community platform and resource panel, Small World Labs, and serve as liaison to SWL and the UNF Digital Infrastructure/Information Technology team.
  • Manage Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems of the campaign’s grassroots advocacy program, including databases and tracking systems.
  • Develop digital and grassroots metrics to reflect UNF constituent engagement curve (tracking the level of advocacy actions advocates take), ensure the campaign meets those metrics, and contribute to quarterly and annual reports on said metrics.
  • Provide regular campaign reporting and metrics, including digital and grassroots advocacy campaign activities.
  • Work with Senior Global Health Advocacy Manager to ensure advocates are receiving   updated Congressional talking points around key appropriations moments. Provide regular input to the Shot@Life campaign website and support the communications and web team by writing blogs, and posting photos/stories and supporter profiles as it relates to grassroots advocacy.
  • Enhance grassroots advocacy program with innovative solutions and peer learning.
  • Manage the hiring and supervision of Shot@Life campaign intern.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree and 1-3 years of professional experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience engaging diverse grassroots constituencies, such as university students, civil
  • society groups, faith-based communities, professional association members, etc.
  • Experience with or willingness to further develop skills in, CRM (EveryAction), Salesforce, and digital organizing platforms.
  • Database management experience preferred and Excel proficiency a plus.
  • Experience in event planning and, including running logistics and on-the-ground execution.
  • Strong writing skills, particularly in developing reports and updates for both internal and
  • external audiences, as well as communications, talking points, etc. to partners and supporters.
  • Ability to synthesize information and communicate with different audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working in teams and across many types of organizations; strong collaborator, problem solver, relationship-builder.
  • Ability to develop, maintain, and enjoy effective working relationships with people from a variety of organizations and with a wide variety of functional expertise.
  • Willingness to travel (10%).
  • Self-starter with both energy and creativity.
  • Strong customer service skills -- in person, over the phone, and in writing.
  • Sense of humor, highly organized, and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet regular attendance/tardiness policy.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle stress.
