Under the direction of the Executive Director the Youth & Family Program Director is responsible for the organization, delivery, and quality of YMCA programs (Afterschool, Day Camp, Youth Sports and AOA) to Y members, program participants, and the community. This position works independently, under general direction, and is expected to determine how to accomplish tasks. The Program Director position includes, but is not limited to, developing relationships with principals, parents, part-time staff, and program participants; ensuring proper monitoring, evaluating, and improving program delivery; hiring and training; establishing collaborative partners; marketing and promoting Y programs; and working collaboratively with colleagues to accomplish collective goals.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs staff and volunteers. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. 
  • Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  • Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives. 
  • Coordinates use of facilities for program activities and events.
  • Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
  • Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. 
  • Compile program statistics. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program. 
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license (class E minimum required within 90 days of employment, CDL license required within 6 months of employment)
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2 years of related experience preferred.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Skills in supervision, budget management, and program development preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal skills are necessary.
  • Requirements within 30 days of hire include: Child Abuse Prevention; CPR; First Aid; AED; Blood borne Pathogens.  Completion of YMCA program specific certifications and training modules.
Compensation/Benefits: 

$28,000.00 - $30,000.00
