The Aquatics Director will ensure the department is meeting its monthly, quarterly and annual goals and objectives including developing and managing the budget.  There is a strong focus on being in compliance with all Association standards and safety procedures.  The Aquatics Director will hire, train, evaluate and confidently supervise staff for all Aquatic Program areas.  

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Direct and supervise aquatic programs to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives for 3 indoor pools and an outdoor Swim Club during the summer.
  • Develop new programs with assistance of Aquatic Managment team. 
  • Provide direction and support to aquatic staff including but not limited to training, scheduling, career development, supervisory guidance and being a strong role model.
  • Ability to effectively recruit using various sourcing tools and interview techniques. 
  • Maintain acurate & current records of all aquatic staff certifications, job descriptions & performance standards.
  • Monitor daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations
  • Works with Facilities Dept. to ensure proper pool maintenance.
  • Be a model Y Ambassador for the Aquatic Dept and respond to all member inquiries and requests in a timely manner with customer service as a priority
  • Develop annual operating budget for aquatic programs as well as department budget
  • Manages Aquatic Staff In-Services and maintains records
Educational Background: 
Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of two years' experience in Aquatics with 3-4 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Maintain all required certifications as well as certification-level physical and mental readiness
  • Demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards
  • Able to work weekends and all hours, including opening and closing the pools
  • Ability to work well under pressure or in an emergency
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $48,000.00 - $55,000.00
