This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The School’s Out Site & Youth Program Director at the MetroWest YMCA oversees the development and operations of a School’s Out site, has a leadership role during summer camp, and supports youth programming and community efforts at the Family Outdoor Center.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Manages, directs and coordinates the School’s Out site. Ensures high quality program, designs practices, processes, and procedures for a high quality program.
- Based on community feedback and identified needs – design, develop, market, and implement programs that meet community needs and support the Family Outdoor Center’s strategic program outcomes. This may include but not limited to youth sports classes, school-based community classes, and traditional family programs.
- Responsible for planning and leading vacation, school conference, and early-release days for both Schools Out and the Family Outdoor Center during all school year days as assigned.
- Assists in Adventure & Outdoor Education programs as assigned.
- Take an active leadership role in both preparing for and assisting in the management of summer camp.
- Recruits and hires diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. On-boards and develops them for success.
- Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with children, families, staff, and schools. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
- Manages the program, including developing and monitoring the program budget to meet fiscal objectives; providing a developmentally appropriate curriculum that is linked to the Curriculum Frameworks and supports school day learning;
- Assures compliance with the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) and the Child and Adult Care Food (CACFP) Program regulations. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed. Provides staff leadership for annual fund raising campaign and committees as assigned.
- Maintains proper records/department files.
- Facilitates Family Advisory Council meetings and organizes special events for parents. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent is strongly preferred and committed to ongoing professional development.
Skills/Experience:
- At least one year of experience with elementary school age children in a licensed OST program (including summer camp). Experience and training relating to working with high-needs children preferred.
- Compliance with EEC licensing regulations
- Ability to complete archery and outdoor education trainings and certifications.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $38,000.00 - $44,000.00
