The HR Liaison provides support for the Arizona Business Unit (AZ BU) in the areas of Human Resources (HR) and Organizational Health (OH) under the operational guidance of the AZ Director of Finance and Operations and technical guidance of Divisional Human Resources Business Partner. Key focus areas for this hands-on position include employee relations, performance coaching, recruitment support, compensation analysis, professional development, employee engagement and transactional activities.
The HR Liaison works towards meeting the strategic priorities of the AZ BU by developing and implementing tactics for approved plans and completing and organizing multiple day-to-day and special tasks and activities related to HR and OH. Supports and guides supervisors in coaching, employee relations and performance improvement issues; acts as liaison with Divisional HR Business Partner. Provides recruitment, orientation, onboarding, performance appraisal and retention services and support. Researches, coordinates and implements, and may develop, professional development experiences for AZ BU staff; supports supervisors with staff career development planning. Maintains, tracks, and reports on key data related to HR and OH. Develops advanced knowledge of the systems and resources used by the AZ BU to provide functional support and coordinate communications related to HR and OH. Completes activities with multiple variables, setting realistic deadlines and managing timelines. Provides guidance in satisfying requirements based on extensive knowledge of HR policies and procedures. Adapts processes and implements recommended practices to improve effectiveness. Takes on additional duties to enhance the work of the BU, including, but not limited to, developing documentation, providing recommendations and enhancing the systems, processes and tools used by the AZ BU. May coordinate AZ BU-wide and Tucson meetings and/or special events. Creates materials (including regular employee newsletters) and performs analysis and research related to HR & OH activities. Coordinates with stakeholders for AZ BU success and may serve as the lead liaison with partners or vendors. Communicates with staff in various programs across the Conservancy, as well as with donors, volunteers, vendors, and business relations. Remains up-to-date on HR and OH trends and best practices to improve services.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE
- Act independently within broad program goals to prioritize tasks in the absence of specific instructions and exercise independent judgment to identify and solve problems;
- Demonstrate sensitivity in handling confidential information;
- May be responsible for the work of peers on departmental project teams;
- Ensure compliance with Conservancy policies and procedures, and external (donor/legal/IRS) requirements; Decisions may bind the organization financially or legally; May work as the liaison with Divisional HR Business Partner to ensure alignment between AZ and TNC HR priorities.
- Financial responsibility may include expense reporting, negotiating and contracting with HR and OH related vendors, participating in budget preparation, and limited purchasing;
- Manage projects with several variables - set realistic deadlines, manage a timeline, and ensure accountability;
- May participate in complex negotiations;
- Provide input through project teams for the development and implementation of new initiatives or the improvement of existing programs;
- Travel and work flexible hours, as needed;
- Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain;
- Work is diversified and may not always fall under established practices and guidelines; and
- Work within scope of program’s strategic goals
- Experience generating reports and analyzing and interpreting the data;
- Experience with business process analysis and/or improvement;
- Experience with organization, accuracy, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Experience with current technology in relevant field;
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook;
- Experience using diplomacy and tact to build strong relationships and motivate staff; and
- Experience working with cross-functional teams.
- Must possess valid driver license.
