Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer, the Association Membership Director is responsible for the leadership and support of membership operations for the Association.  This person will play an integral role in developing and executing strategies to both broaden and deepen the Y’s engagement with members, program participants, and the surrounding community. The Association Membership Director will inspire and empower our membership staff, encouraging them to provide a member experience focused on achievement, belonging, and connection. This position also supports ongoing membership and program initiatives and serves as a key resource for membership directors and coordinators.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Creates a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills in all interactions
  • Monitor engagement contact responses (emails, events, surveys, call feedback, etc.) to determine emerging issues and/or opportunities and coordinates with key leaders corrective action planning
  • Support development and implementation of membership acquisition and engagement plans to ensure achievement of organizations membership goals
  • Provide support to membership and program teams targeting specific groups (i.e. health seekers, families, clinical fitness, etc..) during promotional time periods 
  • Monitor membership and program analytics to include trend analysis and assure action plans are in place to ensure appropriate YMCA response to opportunity while also ensuring that corrective action plans are in place to avert any downward trends 
  • Assist/support the development of Promotional Campaign Plans including action items, evaluation of results, monitoring execution, and provide feedback, suggestion, improvement, and recognition 
  • Develop and implement New Membership Director Training; supporting new directors for the first 90-days 
  • Produce weekly/monthly membership status reports
  • Field problem calls for the Association that require escalation to supervisor
  • Field problem calls for Membership Directors, offer support on operational concerns/challenges 
  • Lead a staff team in the specific areas of corporate membership, financial assistance and monthly membership draft processes. 
  • Proactively search for, evaluate, and recommend opportunities for the YMCA to increase and improve our ability to engage members, program participants, and the communities we serve
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • Prior experience in health / wellness center operations, membership operations, and organizational leadership roles preferred
  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to recommend strategies to achieve organizational goals to include data mining and analysis
  • Proven track record of successful project management and execution
  • Commitment to consensus building, process improvement and constant innovation
  • Prior experience with business office functions, such as billing, managing a budget, scheduling, personnel management, and general management tasks
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • High comfort level with various software and technology
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $55,000.00
