We are seeking a proven, self-motivated, cause-driven professional to join our youth development team. Under the direction of the Vice President of Youth Development, the Senior Program Director is responsible for providing Cause-Driven management, direction, development and supervision of a large geography and/or high volume of multi-site, Before and After School Enrichment program within a designated regional area. Typically, a Senior Program Director will manage 1-2 Program Directors and 1-2 full-time Site Supervisors while driving strategic initiatives to completion, including deliberate planning with leadership of other Y and external partner organizations. 

This position is a senior member of the leadership program team. The Senior Program Director requires strong skills in hiring, staffing, scheduling, quality execution, budget management, relationship management and programming at the director and above level. They are excellent coaches, responsible leaders who are able to interface with all levels of an organization. Day to day operations include relationship management with external contacts, coaching associates toward successful programming and collaborating on decisions for new program development. The Senior Program Director is responsible for creating a top down and bottom up budget, documenting and forecasting whenever required and occasional invoicing and partnering with external vendors as needed. The Senior Program Director creates an environment where Program directors are able to optimize all associate talent on his/her team, conduct mock audits and skills practice sessions, share best practices with other regional Program Directors and handle any family or associate escalations that may occur. Direct reports will include all Program Directors, full-time Site Supervisors within region and subsequently their Directors/Associate directors throughout the region. The Senior Program Director will work closely with the Director of Administration regarding compliance and new site development opportunities. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Engages regional and school community as needed to grow new enrollment opportunities, optimize site management and retain current relationships while fulfilling Y contract compliance and standard objectives.
  • Directs and corrects execution of consistent program processes, training and quality control measures to ensure all associates are operating with high level of service to all standards required; assesses team on a regular basis, communicating any training needs to Vice President and pertinent departmental leaders.
  • Manages the program budget to/within revenue and expense targets.
  • Prepares department budget and updates revenue and expense forecasts as needed.
  • Identifies any safety or risk management concerns.
  • Maintains professional relationships with District leaders, Principals and Y Center & Association associates within the region and will act as the lead contact for such organizations on any matters related to Before and After School Enrichment.
  • Directs and supervises Program Directors and Site Supervisors ensuring excellence in execution of program quality. Observes coaching sessions and as needed develops plans for improvement.
  • Highly involved in the development of and strategy for long term planning of the department; will weigh in on hiring needs as well as short term needs required to effectively lead and manage a stable team toward the long term goals and objectives.
  • Cultivates succession planning in each region such that future leaders develop over time. Expands program knowledge base for all associates, stressing the importance of program planning, service excellence and community service. 
  • Identifies and recruits future senior program directors and program directors; create retention plans with Vice President and HR leadership.
  • Provides updates to senior leadership team and Before and After School management team on any new trends, news or changes in region; escalates concerns to Director of Administration as needed in a timely manner.
  • Attends best practice sharing meetings with other Before and After School leaders across the Y as needed and throughout the industry; joins any required or encouraged professional groups to bring a strong reputation and knowledge base, representing our team as needed in national conferences, training and development opportunities.
  • Investigates opportunities to execute program requirements with our families and associates by using a customer service oriented approach.
  • Assists in the onboarding of all new Senior Program Directors, Program Directors and Site Directors, as needed, provides modeling for best practices in coaching, practice sessions, required management oriented training direct reports on a quarterly basis.
  • Conducts 1-1s at least every other week with each Program Director; documents agenda and feedback, collaborates on performance and site improvement plans, strategic hiring.
  • Plans effective regional leadership meetings and all associate regional meetings as needed; visits each site quarterly in rotation with the intention of providing feedback, coaching and leadership as needed.
  • Partners with Human Resources regarding performance management and by effectively communicating interdepartmental changes, training requirements and ensuring adherence to Y program best practices. 
  • Attends and actively participates in stretch assignments, inter-disciplinary projects as needed; will act as the Before and After School lead for such projects.
  • Accountable for ensuring audit compliance and high level of quality programming for all Before and After School Enrichment sites and associates.
Educational Background: 
BA/BS in youth related field (Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education), business/operational management or related field or equivalent experience required.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Florida Director’s Credential preferred. Completion required within 60-days of hire.
  • 5-7 years director level supervisory experience in a multi-site setting required.
  • 5 or more years in licensed child care environment preferred; youth development and large scale operations with 75 or more employees is ideal. 
  • Prior experience operating in a Y youth development program or Y licensed school age program preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and develop high performing leadership team.
  • Multi-site supervision experience (between 10-20 sites).
  • Exceptional relationship management experience and capacity to develop effective working relationships with people from a variety of different ethnic, socioeconomic, educational, religious, sexual and generational backgrounds.
  • YMCA Program Director level experience strongly desired.
  • Maintain all county, state, federal, licensing and YMCA required certifications.
  • Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and G-Suite; use of internet required in online reporting systems for data entry.
  • Successful completion of behavioral assessment, background screening and drug test. First Aid, CPR, AED and 02 obtained within first 30 days of employment and then maintained throughout employment.
  • This position requires a valid driver license and will require frequent local travel.
