World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the world’s leading conservation organization, seeks a Program Associate in Aquaculture at our Washington, DC office. Under the supervision of the Senior Director for aquaculture, the Associate will assist with administrative activities as well as planning, coordination, communication and implementation of a global aquaculture initiative and other activities associated with project work. This position is limited-term and is funded through March 2021.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Assists with administrative oversight of core aquaculture team
  • Assists with program and project management by responding to requests for oral and written information. Works directly with project personnel, grantees, donors, consultants, and others to facilitate coordination, communication, and regular reporting.
  • Drafts, reviews and edits written program materials. Drafts, and with appropriate approval, finalizes department overviews and reports.
  • Develops, plans and implements oversight of new and ongoing field projects and grants. Works with project personnel, grantees, consultants, and others to facilitate coordination, communication, and regular reporting.
  • Monitors and analyzes new technical information, policy development issues, and trends related to aquaculture more broadly and advises others accordingly. Keeps abreast of issues in areas in which WWF has an ongoing interest in food-related impacts and conservation interventions to minimize or eliminate these impacts.  Responsible for acquiring and gathering data relevant to specific conservation projects from conservation peers, governmental agencies, and universities.
  • May travel to project sites to monitor and evaluate project progress and reports back, verbally and in writing.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
A Bachelor’s degree is required. A graduate degree in an aquaculture or food production field is preferred, but focus could also be on natural resources management, environmental science, international development, or conservation policy.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Position requires two years of experience in biodiversity conservation and understanding of international conservation issues.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent research and writing skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Expertise in the scientific methods, statistical analysis and/or aquaculture is a bonus
  • Ability to operate with independence, under pressure, to meet deadlines and commitments
  • Good interpersonal skills
