Maryland/DC Vote Fossil Free Organizer

The MD/DC Vote Fossil Free Organizer will hit the ground running, organizing a 3-month, innovative electoral organizing drive. Working with local volunteers, a team of remote volunteers from all over the country, and the 350.org team, they will lift up the climate crisis as a core election issue in Maryland. With activities that range from voter registration, GOTV, bird-dogging, call and text banking, and creative public events, they will drive the vote for leaders who will work for a fossil free Maryland, and USA. This organizer may also be called upon to organize rapid response events and actions in DC.

Skills/Experience: 
  • Knowledge of political context in MD and DC. Relationships to progressive and/or youth organizations in Maryland and DC.  
  • 1-2+ years campaign organizing experience, particularly electoral organizing.
  • Experience working closely with partners and coalitions.  
  • Experience recruiting and coordinating diverse teams of volunteers.
  • Creativity and comfort with experimenting with new tools and tactics, and a sharp instinct for finding creative opportunities to build campaign momentum or get a message across.
  • Access to reliable transportation to travel around the state.
  • Excitement to engage in and support the organization's commitment to advancing and creating an equitable and inclusive work culture.

Desired (but not required) skills and experiences

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with team members who are often remote.
  • Excellent time management skills and commitment to healthy work-life balance.
  • Spanish proficiency
  • Experience recruiting for mass mobilizations or days of action.
  • Experience with GOTV and electoral organizing.
  • Experience using social media (e.g. Twitter, Instagram, Facebook) for an organization or campaign.
  • Highly organized, and able to manage multiple projects  at once without sacrificing quality.
  • Experience at the intersection of online and offline organizing, mobilization, and direct action.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Compensation: $3,400 - $5,000/ monthly
