The South Sound YMCA is seeking a high energy, professional Leader to help take our organization to new levels of community service and impact. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
The Executive Director oversees the South Sound YMCA youth and community development operation, including licensed childcare programs, youth sports and other youth focused programs, community collaborations and relations, marketing, volunteer and staff development, financial development, budgeting and financial results.
Th mission of the South Sound YMCA is to provide youth and our community an affordable and accessible resource for the positive development of spirit, mind, and body through recreational, health, and leadership programs. Our impact is felt when an individual makes a healthy choice, when a mentor inspires a child, and when a community comes together for the common good.
- Oversee the development and management of all aspects of the Youth and Community Development operating unit to ensure it continues to meet the needs of the members and the community while achieving operating objectives.
- Ensures operational growth through program expansion, participant recruitment and retention, pricing strategies, marketing and communications efforts.
- Provides Executive Level leadership in all YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
- Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with local school districts, community groups, governmental entities, and other organizations. Develops, maintains, and models collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery area.
- Oversees the hiring, training, development and supervision of staff and volunteers. Develops strategies to foster a sense of achievement and belonging for staff resulting in a high degree of staff satisfaction.
- Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives. Demonstrates a solid administration of the operating unit through prudent fiscal management, frequent risk assessments, and projections.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures compliance with contract requirements.
- Models relationship-building skills in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community. Responds to inquiries and complaints in timely and courteous manner constantly applying the YMCA core values of Respect, Responsibility, Honesty and Caring.
- Responsible for analyzing complex problems and for originating and recommending improvements in methods and procedures for safe and effective program delivery.
- Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs which support the Y mission, goals, and strategies.
- Ensures the safety of all unit operations. Acts as the Association’s child abuse prevention expert.
- Serves as a member of Y management and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Six or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
- Experience in managing Early Learning and School Age Child Care programs, including day and vacation camps, with strong working knowledge of Washington State Child Care and Early Achievers Licensing standards.
- Ability to direct total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of operation budget, marketing and public relations, and program development.
- Experience in management and development of volunteer involvement; ability to recruit top community leaders.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
- YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification preferred.
- Must have a spirit of service and enthusiasm for the mission of the South Sound YMCA and our community.
Salary: $75,000.00
