Responsible for the successful administration and operation of the Aquatics and Wellness departments. Plans, schedules and manages Aquatics and Wellness programming. Supervises program staff.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Manages, directs and coordinates aquatics and wellness programs. Ensures high quality programs, establishes new program activities, and ensures program enrollment targets are met.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs employees and volunteers. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Maintains accurate records of staff certifications. Responsible to ensure accurate time recording for payroll.
- Develops, manages and controls budgets related to the position. Exercises necessary controls to ensure operations are carried out and a balanced fiscal operation exists.
- Develops the operating and program schedule for all pool facilities and the wellness center.
- Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures are followed. Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.
- Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance. Ensures proper maintenance of pools. Cooperates with maintenance staff to maintain safe operational standards.
- Ensures proper maintenance of wellness center equipment.
- Conducts YMCA lifeguard, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR trainings. Conducts YMCA fitness certification trainings, such as Healthy Lifestyles Principles and others, as assigned.
- Develops and maintains relationships with organizations and agencies related to assigned programs. Responds to all inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
- Provides staff leadership for the annual fundraising campaign and other committees as assigned.
- Maintains proper records and department files.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Implements survey collection procedures. Evaluates program effectiveness and responds to customer feedback.
- Serves as a member of YMCA management and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA.
- Carries out other tasks as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Skills/Experience:
- One to two years of related experience, preferably in a supervisory capacity.
- YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard certification.
- AFAA, ACE, ACSM, NSCA certification or YMCA equivalent certifications.
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED/First Aid/Oxygen Administration certifications.
- YMCA Healthy Lifestyles Principles, YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise and YMCA Foundations of Strength and Conditioning preferred.
- Ability to direct assigned operations including supervision and development of staff and volunteers.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to use analytical, interpretative and evaluative thought in making decisions and solving problems.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Competency with Microsoft Office software.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $40,560.00
