Under the direction of the Sr. Vice President of Operations/COO and in accordance with the YMCA/JCC of Greater Toledo, the Executive Director of Membership is responsible for leading the association corporate membership sales along with the systems to support the YMCA member experience.
Areas of Responsibility:
The incumbent must have proven leadership skills in sales and customer service, fiscal management, team building skills, and Corporate Wellness account management to successfully carry out his/her duties in accordance with the YMCA’s mission and strategic plan. Other important functions of the Executive Director of Membership include:
- Implements and evaluates all aspects of the membership function, including the Sales and Service teams, in accordance with YMCA of Greater Toledo guidelines and with direction from the Sr. VP of Operations/COO.
- Develops, monitors and maintains a working knowledge of membership types and rate structures; including short term memberships and membership payment options.
- Maintains accurate records and is accountable for all data generated by the sales and service team leaders and staff.
- Will provide leadership, supervision and direction to the marketing staff team, including planning and implementation of all membership initiatives.
- Develops, manages and monitors assigned operating budgets to meet or exceed targets. Recommends adjustments to the budget to assure a balanced operation and submits reports on current operations.
- Able to function within the Thinsoft operating system for the purpose of sales, service, member engagement, monitoring and basic accounting information.
- Accountable for developing systems to track and report all tours and guest activity in Thinsoft and other internal tracking systems.
- Builds relationships with sales and service team members.
- Maintains working knowledge of all YMCA program areas and provides responsive service to requests from program staff, members, and community partners.
- Develops, implements and monitors action plan for the achievement of monthly prospect, appointment, membership sales, and membership attrition of first year contracts.
- Manage Corporate Membership accounts and participate in events that promote membership sales and retention.
- Provides excellent staff and member service in both phone and in person communications and interactions.
- Works with Executive Directors to recruit, hire, train, develop and directs all related staff in the membership departments. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Develops and directs high quality member engagement strategies and programs which support branch and association mission, goals and strategies.
- Achieves sales operational objectives by contributing marketing and sales information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change.
- Provides staff support for assigned committees. Provides staff leadership for annual campaign.
- Maintains accurate records for the membership function, branch and staff.
- Communicates any suggestions to improve the branch operations to the appropriate staff member.
- Increases staff and member awareness of healthy lifestyle factors.
- Be capable of facilitating and attending designated trainings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Skills/Experience:
- Education, experience and certifications – A minimum of 5 years of proven success in sales and customer service within the YMCA or equivalent professional experience as a manager/consultant of a sales territory in a related industry. Certification requirements include CPR/AED, First Aid.
- Skills And Abilities – With an understanding of the YMCA mission as well as the goals and objectives of the strategic plan, this person must be able to implement programs in accordance with YMCA of the USA standards. Must be able to handle multiple tasks and must be creative, motivated and a self-starter. Must be outgoing, friendly and knowledgeable and be able to form connected relationships with our corporate partners, staff and members. Must be able to project enthusiasm to other staff and members. Must be able to work independently as well as with a staff team. Incumbent must have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including being able to present to large groups. Must have computer skills and proficiency in the Microsoft Office, outlook applications as well as skills in Thinsoft.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00
