- Ensure adequate safety procedures are in place for the class being taught
- Supervise staff, to include call outs, PTO, daily staff schedule and concerns or issues
- Ensure that curriculum is designed and implemented
- Order supplies
- Coordinate monthly newsletter
- Generate snack menu.
- Ensure daily, weekly, monthly communication to parents to support the lesson plans and the milestones and development of the children within the program
- Supervise programs, including operation, maintenance, appearance, and cleanliness
- Code incoming bills for payment
- Organize and Track employee training to ensure staff are in compliance with licensing regulations and ensure trainings are suited to improve the quality of our teachers and centers
- Monitor and organize classroom-attendance, sign in & out
- Assist with Hiring, training, coaching, supervising and evaluating Early Learning staff
- Appropriately handle development and disciplinary issues with staff as needed, and implement reward and recognition practices
- Provide training and orientation for new parents, teachers and children including touring families and transitioning children
- Responsible for maintaining staff files and maintaining staff compliance in CPR/First Aid certifications, including blood borne pathogens, HAZMAT, and other required certifications of the field
- Attend monthly PAC meetings with Director
- Partner with parents to effectively address their questions/concerns
- Assists with classroom observations and technical support
- Substitute in classrooms as needed
- Support the program goals of the YMCA as a whole and the branch in particular
- Operate facility and program in the Early Learning Director’s absence
- Responsible for creating, developing and maintaining a positive relationship with teachers, parents and other branch staff
- Stay current with all licensing, state and local regulations and ensures that the site and all of its staff are in compliance at all times
- Assist Director as needed in preparing the branch or continuing to adhere to NAEYC accreditation
- Perform other duties as required
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification
- Documentation of physical examination and TB skin test
- Clear the local jurisdiction requirements for criminal background and/or fingerprinting
- Must meet the county/state licensing requirements
- Minimum of three years experience working primarily with preschoolers or school age children (depending on program) in a licensed child care center
- Must have strong organizational and administrative skills including supervision, program development and working with children and parents
- Ability to supervise staff
- Must be able to effectively communicate with children and parents.
- Must understand and be committed to working with diverse population and to YMCA character development
Salary: $35,000 (annually)
