The Video Producer/Editor produces videos that will engage and grow our digital community through compelling stories from our conservation work. The Video Producer/Editor must be highly proficient in digital-centric video storytelling, content development and production. She/he will be responsible for all stages of video production, working in collaboration with a variety of internal clients, and must be able to write, shoot, edit and create motion graphics for video, as well as supervise vendors when necessary. She/he must be passionate about, and skilled in using, popular social media platforms and have a keen sense of what creative styles are most effective for each.
The Video Producer/Editor produces videos for different teams across the organization, taking them all the way from initial concept and story development through filming, editing and final finishing. This involves shooting events, interviews and broll footage, and editing video footage into compelling short videos that may incorporate motion graphics and visual effects. The Video Producer/Editor must have an ability to find stories, write scripts, travel to acquire the footage necessary, and edit the final video. The editing must show high proficiency in visual effects, color correction, motion graphics, audio editing and audio mixing. The Video Producer/Editor must be able to use video to tell stories from our work in a creative and interesting way that will help build the communities around our online channels.
The Video Producer/Editor must keep up-to-date on video trends and technologies, and recommend strategies to maximize engagement with our content.
The Video Producer/Editor will work within a small team and in collaboration with many different internal clients. He/she must be able to adapt to different creative styles, workflows, role assignments and deliverables, depending on the needs of each project and client.
The Video Producer/Editor reports to the Director, Film and Video, in the Creative Team.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE
- Oversees delivery of video content across digital and social media platforms
- Coordinates closely with the global digital marketing team to produce compelling video content for nature.org and TNC’s global social media properties
- Produces video content intended for various target audiences and distributed to multiple social/digital media properties.
- Manage and serve as team lead on assigned projects, working under established guidelines and in collaboration with internal clients.
- Supervise vendors as necessary.
- Work within assigned budgets and sometimes under tight deadlines.
- Responsibility to manage the ambition of projects to match budget and deadline limitations.
- Opportunity to act independently within program goals.
- Responsibility and accountability for meeting project goals and objectives.
- Some travel is to be expected for location shoots.
- Ability to work long days on location shoots, or to meet edit deadlines, as needed.
- Ability to carry camera equipment over distances in a variety of weather conditions.
- A minimum 7 years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience managing client and account relationships.
- Experience implementing, and managing multiple complex projects.
- Experience negotiating agreements.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Multi-lingual skills appreciated.
- Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience preferred.
- Experience running a video social media channel.
- Strong awareness of the social/digital media landscape as well as new video technologies that impact how the content landscape is changing.
- Strong understanding of multi-channel storytelling.
- Experience and proficiency at creating video animations using illustration.
- Experience with Facebook Live livestream video production.
- Experience in supervising a production crew on location.
- Experience developing concepts into scripted videos.
- Experience conducting video interviews.
- Experience mixing audio for video.
- Driving license required for shoots.
