We are looking for a Manager, Onboarding and Experience Design who will ensure that all incoming corps members have the support and information they need to be hired, certified, eligible and committed to joining the Los Angeles corps and alumni community. In this role, you will own the confirmation and matriculation campaigns to ensure that all incoming corps members have clarity on the commitment and processes necessary to be a corps member in LA. You will also own communications and support efforts for corps members to obtain eligibility to become teachers by the first day of school, including enrollment in intern credentialing programs, attendance at LA Institute, and completion of all California teacher certification exams. You will directly manage and support the Coordinator, Onboarding and Experience Design to help retain, inspire, and motivate hundreds of incoming corps members. You also enjoy working with regional staff members and inspiring them to contribute their energies to these efforts. You will report to the Managing Director, Experience Design and collaborate with staff members at all levels across the regional team.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Onboarding Planning & Execution (30%)

  • Manage five confirmation campaigns a year by successfully stewarding staff members, corps members, and alumni in terms of both experience and quantitative results.
  • Effectively report out all progress to goal and other relevant data on an ongoing basis and as needed to inform stakeholders of status, needs, opportunities, and challenges.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with important partners including, but not limited to, the TFA Admissions and Recruitment teams. 

National, State & Local Credential Processes (15%)

  • Invest incoming corps members in the overall onboarding progress to goal and first day of school readiness and effectively track their progress.
  • Serve as one of two primary liaisons with Loyola Marymount University (LMU). Collaborate with LMU TFA team on credential document submission and corps member communication, onboarding, registration, and retention heading into first day of school.
  • Research and build resources to become an expert on California state certification exams and test preparation strategies.

Incoming Corps Member Support (35%)

  • Coach and develop corps members toward success throughout the onboarding experience by building relationships with individual corps members, trouble-shooting challenges that may arise, and providing ongoing targeted coaching and support as needed.
  • Communicate, support, and celebrate progress with corps members toward regional retention goals despite challenges that will arise throughout onboarding, which can vary widely across lines of difference and life circumstances. 
  • Facilitate corps member support strategies and training for all LA team members, and manage colleagues toward success against those strategies.
  • Support management of incoming corps member email inbox and respond to corps members in a timely manner via most appropriate medium (phone, email, in person, etc.) as needed.

Direct Report Management (10%)

  • Manage one direct report (Coordinator, Onboarding and Experience Design) who will track progress to goal for all corps member onboarding requirements including, but not limited to, test results, certificate of clearance progress, and regional action item completion. 

Additional Regional Responsibilities (10%)

  • Participate in region and organization-wide initiatives and events such as corps member selection, staff learning and development days, and other events.
Educational Background: 
Bachelors degree required
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with California certification requirements highly preferred
  • Track record of creating strong project plans and executing them effectively

Work Demands:

  • Travel one to two times per year to conferences
  • Some weekend and evening work required
