We are seeking a highly accomplished YMCA leader to help us maximize the possibilities at our Eastside Family YMCA.  With an operating budget of $3.6 million, this full facility serves over 9,000 members.  The Eastside YMCA is located on 26 acres of property and has a modern facility with over 80,000 square feet with a new 6,000 square feet fitness center expansion.  This location also provides Accredited Child Care to more than 275 children and recently added a new childcare facility on the same property. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develops and directs high quality member engagement strategies and programs which support branch and Association goals, and strategies.  Coordinate branch marketing and communication efforts with the VP of Marketing.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops and directs employees and volunteers.  Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Develops, manages, and monitors assigned operating budgets to meet or exceed targets. Recommends adjustments to the budget to assure a balanced operation and submits reports on current operations.
  • Provides direct leadership for Youth and Adult Sports programs.
  • Establishes plans for the expansion of programs and services, in harmony with overall YMCA objectives and the leadership team.
  • Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities.  Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery area.
  • Provides staff support for assigned committees.  Provides staff leadership for annual support campaign, along with Special Events.
  • Must ensure the maintenance of facilities and properties of the branch to assure high standards of maintenance, safety, cleanliness and to assure that the requirements of regulatory codes are fully met.
  • Serves as a member of YMCA management and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in human services, recreation, business or a related field, or equivalent, preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate will have 5 to 7 years of YMCA strategic and operational leadership experience, and experience motivating and supervising a team.  Knowledge of state licensed child care operations.  
  • Must demonstrate past success in leading a staff team in improving operation performance while netting a budget surplus.  
  • Your key deliverables as Executive Director include efficiently managing the YMCA budget; increasing membership sales and retention; enhancing family programming, promoting program quality; maintaining a clean and safe facility; building an effective and diverse staff team and volunteer board leading fundraising efforts and advocating and promoting the YMCA of Greater Erie mission and vision. 
  •  Must possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skill!

Required Certifications

  • Four or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
  • Ability to direct assigned operations including volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, 
  • and program development.
  • Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  • YMCA Team Leader or Multi-Team/Branch Leader certification preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications required.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $63,300.00 - $79,100.00
