The Assistant Program Director will be to assist with the administrative management of the Day Camp program, all School Age programs, Vacation Care and Teen Programming. The Assistant Program Director will be directly responsible for program implementation and quality, and will represent the YMCA of Long Island in a positive, professional manner, resulting in friendly, convenient and courteous service.

Program Responsibilities:
- Develop and enhance Teen Center for increased participation and retention (drive to become members)
- Serve as School Age Site Director at Countrywood
- Facilitate and assist with all programming relating to Countrywood Primary School Age Child Care
- Ensure the safety of all the children and staff in the program at all times.
- Maintain all licensing requirements (OCFS) and certifications necessary (MAT, CPR & First Aid)
- Ensure that all OCFS rules and regulations are being followed.
- Assist with recruitment, hiring, training, onboarding and staff development connected to Countrywood Primary School and School Age Child Care department as a whole.
- Maintain accurate records of children’s attendance, medical information and parent communication.
- Ensure that all YMCA policies and procedures are adhered to and communicated and enforced with staff, children and parents.
- Maintain a positive relationship with School Administration.
- Plan enriching age appropriate activities daily for School Age Child and Vacation Care participants, provide a monthly calendar to families.
- Must supervise counselors with students at all times.
- Must require and work together with counselors in the daily set-up, cleanup, homework time, busing time and snack time.
- Assist with site field visits as requested.
- Attend, plan and participate in any meetings, special events, and trainings including CPR and First aid or requested for staff, YMCA of Long Island and as necessary for OCFS.
- Assist Youth & Camp Director with tasks as necessary.
- Responsible to communicate regularly with supervisor and inform of any changes.
- Assist with payroll to ensure it is submitted with no errors in a timely manner.
- Develop curriculum and policies for camp programs
- Design systems for enhanced communication, system, and customer service
- Maintain accurate enrollment procedures, paperwork and files throughout the summer.
- Ensure safety Camp Emergency procedures with practice drills and following all policies and procedures of the Huntington YMCA.
- Actively participate in, view and monitor all camp programs having full knowledge of all curriculum, materials and presentation.
- Assist in developing and implementing branch special events and outreach events
- Extend the Y’s service in the community. Develop collaborations to conduct programs inside and outside the Y that meet the changing needs of our community.
- Lead outreach efforts to local schools, developing strong and mutually beneficial relationships; be directly connected to the parent engagement team
Supervision of Personnel:
- Hire, Train and supervise, Countrywood Staff, assist with supervision of other School Age Child Care, Youth and Teen Staff
- Ensure that necessary certifications are maintained for staff
- Fiscal Responsibilities:
- Assist with fiscal management of program budget
- Must be knowledgeable of monthly department goals and plan of action to meet the financial goals
- Develop and/or assist in the development of Annual Campaign and other fund-raising events
- Adhere to all fiscal policies and procedures such as petty cash, purchase orders, employee expense forms and member balances
- Adhere to payroll time-lines and approve time cards.
- Keep accurate records and statistics for budget development
- Assist with annual budget development
Housekeeping Responsibilities:
- Ensure the maintenance and cleanliness, safety and attractiveness of the YMCA facility (including camp and off-sites) and equipment
Interdivisional/ Community/ Volunteer Responsibilities
- Actively participate in and provide leadership for Annual Campaign.
- Provide friendly, courteous service to all members, clients, and volunteers of the Y.
- Participate in program cabinets and other related leadership events.
- Participate in Branch Special Events

- A minimum of 2 years of direct experience working with children under the age of 13.
- At least two years in a supervisory capacity in a child care program or related field of work.
- Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
- Must submit health history record and examination form prior to first day of work.
- Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other leadership staff and school administration.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
