The Health & Wellness Director develops and manages all aspects of health and wellness programs, specialty programs, and services for the YMCA of the Inland Northwest. The Health & Wellness Director supervises the Wellness Centers, Group Exercise Lead and Group exercise instructors, ensuring member satisfaction by providing exemplary service to members, contributing to high member retention.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Hire, train, supervise and conduct performance reviews of Wellness Coaches, program leads, volunteers and interns using techniques that ensure positive member relations, accurate dissemination of YMCA information and encourages member recruitment and retention.
- Develop, manage, and evaluate systems, which include but are not limited to: orientations, fitness assessments, personal training, small group training, special events, and wellness programs for all ages.
- Holds quarterly trainings and meetings for staff.
- Collaborate with other departments to develop an annual membership plan aimed at enhancing YMCA membership through retention and recognition of current members.
- Develop new health and wellness programs and services that enhance membership and contribute to the overall health and well-being of the community.
- Interpret and communicates the YMCA mission, objectives, and programs to members and program participants.
- Provide staff leadership for the Annual Campaign.
- Maintain program areas at the YMCA in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
- Assist in the development and manage the annual Health and Wellness Department budget. Maintain fiscal soundness in department.
- Serves as a member of the Impact team and attends monthly meetings.
- Demonstrate through action and interaction with staff, YMCA members and the public, the Four Character Development Principles of the YMCA; Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
- Is involved in community organizations.
- Establish personal goals for self-improvement and professional growth.
- May be asked to take on additional tasks and duties as needed.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, physical education or related field.
Skills/Experience:
- At least three years experience in health and wellness programming and management.
- Ability to recruit, train, supervise, and motivate professional and part-time staff.
- Experience working with program and policy volunteers.
- Eligible for or holds CPR, First Aid, BloodBorne Pathogens, AED and Oxygen certifications.
- Eligible for or holds Certified Personal Trainer (AFFA, NSCA, ACSM, ACE, NASM), Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA), Health Fitness Specialist (ACSM) or YMCA Fitness Specialist.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $34,000.00 - $38,000.00
