As an Application Reviewer, you are a Teach For America Alumnus or former staff member working as a part of TFA’s Recruitment & Admissions team. You are responsible for reading a portfolio of applications for candidates interested in joining Teach For America’s corps. As an Application Reviewer, you will read applications from a diverse set of current undergraduates, graduate students, and professionals, and make strong decisions about whether or not to advance them to an interview.
You are inspired by the prospect of having a significant impact on Teach For America’s 2019 corps and beyond, and derive joy from reading about people’s experiences and interest in becoming a Corps Member. As an Application Reviewer, you will enhance your professional skills in hiring while gaining an understanding of Teach For America’s selection model and staying engaged with the organization.
- Make excellent, evidence-based recommendations to advance or reject candidates for Teach For America’s corps:
- Thoroughly read applications and make accurate calibrations
- Include evidence-based rationales that support calibrations and recommendations to reject or advance
- Document all decisions with strong, professional notes
- Complete training prior to reviewing files as well as ongoing training modules or resources
- Participation in various special projects or pilot exercises as the opportunity may arise
- Applicants must be a Teach For America alumnus or former staff member
Work Demands
- Commit to reviewing files for 4 hours for at least four deadlines (note: applications can be read at flexible hours during these windows):
- September 17 – 19, 2018
- October 20 – 22, 2018
- December 8 – 10, 2018
- February 4 – 6, 2019
- March 4 – 6, 2019
- April 15 – 17, 2019
- Access to a reliable internet connection and a valid US address

This role pays $13 per hour. This is a seasonal, temporary position with no benefits.
