Under the direct supervision of the Group Executive Director the Associate Executive Director shall be responsible for assisting with the overall daily operation of the branch. Preferred candidate will have experience managing and supervising an aquatic department and programs. Major emphasis and responsibility will be in the supervision of Aquatics, Stay and Play and all youth programs including Day Camp, Afterschool, and Youth Sports Departments. Duties will require program development/innovation, member engagement, budget development and management, facility management, building of community partnerships and a positive approach to problem solving. Effective candidates will have backgrounds in building relationships, successful staff supervision, problem solving skills, program management and the ability to work with diverse populations.
STAFF DEVELOPMENT
- Support the Aquatics, Youth Sports, and Youth Program Directors in daily operations and management of the branch.
- Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule and manage a high performing staff focused on providing exceptional service and work well as a team.
- Actively participates in Association committees to promote communication, teamwork and unity between the branches.
- Develop strategies to provide support and motivation to staff for the achievement of goals and retention.
- Review and evaluate staff performance.
- Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
PROGRAM OPERATIONS
- Effectively communicate the mission, vision and values of the YMCA of the Chesapeake.
- Ensure all programs comply with YMCA standards and methods of operation.
- Integrate member-service and engagement strategies into all programs to ensure positive member recruitment and retention.
- Monitor and evaluate delivery and effectiveness of programs and staff for the highest possible level of quality.
- Be visible to staff and members.
- Respond to all member and community inquiries and concerns within 24 hours.
- Communicate program information, changes and needs in a timely manner to supervisor and branch staff.
FISCAL MANAGEMENT
- Develop, monitor and meet or exceed budget targets.
- Produce effective and efficient staff schedules within set payroll budget parameters.
STRONG COMMUNITY CAMPAIGN | FINANCIAL DEVELOPMENT
- Provide leadership for assigned aspects of Annual Campaign.
FACILITIES DEVELOPMENT
- Maintain complete familiarity with all risk management procedures and policies.
- Maintain membership areas and equipment are in an orderly, clean and safe condition. Report any irregularities to maintenance personnel.
- Communicate information promptly to all branch leadership and departmental staff.
- Attend applicable training and conferences to further professional development.
- A Background in leading/supervising aquatics programming.
- Five years experience as a YMCA Senior Director or experience in a related field.
- Multi-team Branch Director Certification preferred.
- Background must include strong skills in human relations, budgeting, sound fiscal management, financial development, program development/innovation, membership growth/retention, volunteer and staff development, committee and board relation skills and staff supervision.
- Certification or willingness to be trained in the following
- Maryland Certified Pool Operator
- YMCA Lifeguard
- CPR/First Aid/Oxygen/AED
- Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
Salary: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00
