This candidate must possess an outgoing personality and a positive attitude as well as verbal and written communication skills. The primary responsibilities of the Youth and Family Coordinator are to, under the supervision of the Youth and Family Director, manage administration and operations of Child Watch, Y-Arcade and Rec Room areas, plan and lead Parent’s Night Out programs, oversee older adult programming, supervision of part time childcare staff, and ensure the Kirk Family YMCA provides a safe and positive member experience for all families. Work schedule to include Saturday mornings.
- Maintain adequate staff/children ratio in Child Watch and Y-Arcade
- Develop and facilitate children’s activities that revolve around the four core values—caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
- Create and initiate safety policies and proceduresHires, trains, evaluates and monitors Child Watch and Y-Arcade staff on an ongoing basis.
- Responsible for making monthly Child Watch and Y-Arcade schedule.
- Responsible for creating and monitoring the Child Watch, Y-Arcade, Rec Room and Parent’s Night Out budget.
- Maintain and order supplies/equipment when needed.
- Monitor and update when necessary daily cleaning schedule in Child Watch, Y-Arcade, and Rec Room
- Communicate/enforce Child Watch and Y-Arcade policies with members and staff.
- Responsible to host regular staff meetings/ training.
- Assist in the administration and operation of licensed full day summer camp for ages 4 – 11, to include planning, promoting, hiring and training staff, risk management, and budgeting.
- Attend staff meetings as scheduled.
- Develop and implement new adult activities to provide year round calendar of opportunities.
- Develop and maintain methods and systems to enhance relationships and communication with older adult members.
- Teach/Coach youth and family programs as needed or directed.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with members, staff, and community.
- Assists with Special Events such as the Holiday Family Fun Night, Easter Celebration, Dance Recital, and more.
- Assist in the organization, planning, and management of youth and family programs
- Other duties as assigned.
- Working knowledge of Windows and MS Office operations
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- At least 2 years experience in Child Care of Youth Program setting
- 21 years of age or older
- Strong oral and written communication skills-
